I don't understand why people think they will get hacked by forwarding a port.
As for help, I would suggest trying to connect to your router via cable, and trying your default gateway again.

I think I actually gave him admin, went afk, and returned to find my rocket jumping challenge completely broken.

Couldn't you do a killstreak-ish type of minigame with minigame events and the remote item? Otherwise this is pretty cool.
