Suggestions & Requests / Water waves
« on: August 12, 2012, 06:26:35 AM »
I wonder why Badspot took away the waves (height and frequency) since they were really neat. You can't apply them through Mission Editor either.

Suggestions & Requests / Animating fog distance in day cycles

Being able to adjust the fog distance in day cycles would be really great. It would make simulating night much easier.

Suggestions & Requests / Longer day length
« on: August 11, 2012, 09:14:05 AM »
Currently the maximum day length is 300 seconds which is 5 minutes. You can make the day longer through Mission Editor but I would much rather use the Environment Editor and .atmosphere files. Is there any reason why the day length is clamped to such a low value? I would much prefer a 7200 second (2h) day.

Alternatively is there a way to go around this limit by changing the day length value through the Mission Editor by using a script that works with the .atmosphere files?

Modification Help / Skybox environment map (7th texture)
« on: August 11, 2012, 02:42:43 AM »
What does the 7th texture do in a skybox .dml file? The first 6 are the cube faces, the 7th is the environment map, and 8-10 are clouds. What is the environment map used for? Why is it necessary?

I guess this is the new mapping help forum.

Gallery / Old Lego sets
« on: August 09, 2012, 12:31:36 PM »
Mostly for the sake of nostalgia since the sets are actually too small to be properly walked inside. Built brick by brick according to the actual instruction booklets with some freedoms taken where required Lego bricks do not exist in Blockland. I built this years ago but forgot to release them here. You can right click images and view them for higher resolution. Click the names to download them. The shop and house saves need the inverted corners. Otherwise I'm pretty sure they use only default bricks. Trueno's colorset.

Off Topic / WhatPulse - Blockland Team
« on: August 08, 2012, 08:47:05 AM »

I have resurrected the Blockland team from the depths of the WhatPulse archives! Join the team and grow your e-snake by comparing your computer activity with other people interested in the same game as you! Incredibly pointless! Yaay! Or as Snow2 put it.
WOOHOO THE ULTIMATE TEAM IN PURSUIT OF THE GOAL OF ACHEIVING ABSOLUTELY loving NOTHING

In short WhatPulse is a program that runs in the background and counts how many key presses and clicks you make while the program is running. It also records how many miles/kilometers/meters you have moved your mouse. It also keeps track of how many times what key was pressed and you can make pretty images using the program to display your keyboard activity. But wait. I hear you say, is this not a keylogger?

Quote from: WhatPulse Site
And for all you people who are thinking "oeh mi god a keylogger, no way!", well, exactly, No way. WhatPulse is not and never will be any sort of keylogger, it does not collect the keys you type, but only how many keys you type. (see our Privacy Policy)

Here's a pretty image showing what keys I press on my keyboard the most. As I am using a Nordic keyboard the program gets a little confused. R Shift is actually L Shift, \ is Tab, Alt and Windows key's are apparently not recorded. In fact it seems that this feature is a little buggy since it does not appear to record everything. I have pressed more than 3000 keys in the past few hours yet the key frequencies feature has only logged around 2000 keys.

How do I join the team?

Individual DLC mission packs
Day One | Day Two | Day Three | Day Four | Day Five | Day Six | Day Seven | Day Eight | Day Nine

That's right. It's back after almost 5 months of rotting underground. The release of the environmental controls preview got me a little nervous so I really need to finish this quickly. I'm aiming for this to become a default save.

Brick count: ~40,000
Work time: ~67 hours

Stuff to do
  • Check if all common building surfaces (drawer, bed, etc.) are at the correct height in relation to the floor (so saves work)
  • Triple check every nook and cranny

Day 6
I pretty much powerbuilt the entire bed inside and out plus most of the drawer in 10 hours across two days.

Day 7
Finished drawer and the basement secret. I might put the approximate work time in the clock but I'll think about that later. I also noticed a huge problem. The wall secret is exactly the thickness of the actual wall so I need to do scale it down a bit. I will be 4 bricks thinner than it actually is.

Day 8
You asked for a better poster and a better poster you shall receive.

Old poster: 1415 bricks
New poster: 2083 bricks (+668)
Zor's poster: 9987 bricks (+7904)

Since the tunnel leading to the basement relied entirely on terrain I had to create a new tunnel from scratch. I could try to recreate the terrain but that would not only look bad it would probably hog around 10k bricks. This is what I came up with using as few bricks as I could.

Day 9
All kinds of stuff I made in a couple of days. Not much left to do.

This guy was brutally beaten by police several times during 24 hours. What did he do? He did not pull over his car and he was misidentified as being part of a minor fender bender. What the loving hell. I have no words.

Help / Green blobs on a DTS model (NVIDIA rendering error?)
« on: July 05, 2012, 04:58:21 PM »
This is a bizarre problem. This guy RMS Gigantic sees green blobs on models I made. He said that almost all of his graphics settings were at max. His graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M.

There are no overlapping faces in the model. There is no green texture of any kind. I have not colored anything green.

This is what I see. I also tried setting all graphics to as low as I could and I still couldn't replicate those blobs. My card is ATI Radeon HD 5870 v2.

And to prove it's not a problem with my models. This is what McTwist sees, this was the first time he saw these models so he did not have any old versions of them. His card is XFX AMD HD 6870 BE.
