The very first thing I thought when I saw the first picture was "WOW!"  Followed shortly by "I hope he puts up the save for that..."  Dang, I need to get retail...  That is awesome.  Nice job.  Really nice.  I wish I could be patient enough to build something like that.

Also, I know Facechild already accepted you, but if this build hadn't gotten you into USSR, then I don't know what would.  They'd have to be blind, and stupid to not accept this.  I'm glad that they're not either of those things.  While I generally dislike clans (that's me.  I just don't like the idea of "we're all losers and misery loves company" [/sarcasm]), USSR has shown that they're top-quality stuff.  Nice job on getting in!

Dang...  I really need to get Retail.  That's a great build.  I hope you upload it when you're ready.  If you couldn't tell, I'm impressed.  I rarely post in the "Gallery."  It's not often I see something worth posting about.  I look forward to seeing more of your work.  Mouser X over and out.

#2 will never happen FYI.

QUICKEDIT: You're probably the only person I've met who wanted it. Other than Zor but he doesn't count.
This is incorrect.  I've posted in favor of floating bricks before, as have others.  It's in a thread somewhere, but I don't have time to search for it now.  Due to this not being the place, I won't get into anymore than that.  Just pointing out that he's not the only one who wants floating bricks.  Mouser X over and out.

Really?  If so, it comes very close to this:  .

I don't know about scary, but it certainly is ugly.  And somewhat scary, due to its ugliness.

As for the brick art, if I was a LEGO guy, I'd take offense that someone would deface my world with such a structure.  As a LEGO guy, the fact that we shared anything in common (we're both made out of blocks and plastic) would be cause for consideration of melting myself, or building a large magnifying glass, and melting the art...

Excluding the content, congratulation's.  I may not like the picture, but at least you did the work.  I appreciate the effort, and I hope you learned something from it.  I am saddened that the time spent wasn't used in a less detestable manner though.  Good luck on your next build.  Hopefully it won't be something quite so...  (I'll be nice) controversial...  Mouser X over and out.

Someone made a chatbot in RTB.  It didn't have any physical presence on the server, but you could send commands to it in the chat HUD, and it'd respond in various ways.  I think it'd be kind of cool if someone did something similar, but instead of no physical presence, it creates a player/bot/thing that walks around more or less randomly.  You could send commands such as "left" for it to turn left, "right," "forward" for walking, or "stop" for it to stand still.  I think it'd be nifty to have a "helper" bot following you around, acting on your very whims.

Perhaps I've got an overactive imagination, and am asking too much...  Either way, release your bot scripts as an addon please!  I'd love to have bots running around.  Mouser X over and out.

It'd be neat if Badspot could read from the system clock, and implement a "real-time" lighting system.  Basically, the way that LEGO Creator did it.  When night comes, the lights go on.  When dawn/sunrise comes, the lights go off.  If that happened, I'd play in the evening during sunset/dusk more, as well as dawn/sunrise.  I thought it was neat to watch the transition.

Do note, I think that'd be awesome if such a thing was to be implemented.  However, I I strongly doubt it will happen.  Very strongly...  I just thought I'd mention it, since it would be pretty neat, if it happened.  Mouser X over and out.

Dead dog's aren't useless.  Though, they're not much fun...  They don't come when you call.  And, you can throw them in a stew...  Hopefully someone catches the reference.  I find it rather funny.  Useless is more like salt that has lost its savor... (sorry, it was the first thing that came to my mind).  Really, everything has a use, if you put your mind to it.

Though, in regards to the DTS files without joints, I'd have to say the only purpose I can see them using is for artistic value.  Or to get in someone's way.  Or to spam/lag a server...  Yah, they're pretty useless.  Mouser X out.

Seriously, what's wrong with being 5'3"?  Does this mean that, by default because of my height, I'm a stupid moron?  I'd take offense at that, except that I'm not 5'3".  I am close though.  I'm also much older than 12 (much older...  Less than 30 though, by a fair amount).  Height and age have very little correlation, in my opinion.  Though, this is in part because I've been fairly short much of my life...

Anyway, if someone tells you their age over the internet, take it with a grain of salt.  Sometimes even a handful.  I mean, I could say I'm a 12 year old girl (that'd be disturbing...), but that doesn't mean I am...  To quote a comic I found funny:  "Over the internet, no one knows your a dog." (as  side note, *please* note that "no" and "one" is two words.  Noon is noon, not no one.)

If someone isn't acting the age they said they are, then there's a very good chance the information they gave you is incorrect.  This might also hold true, if they're acting *too* much their age...

Yah, anyway, I'll stop now.  Mouser X out.

Blast.  I missed my opportunity to mention some of the very frequent grammar complaints I have (take note: considering that I haven't posted said complaints [for the most part], I'd say that shows some self-control that other tend to be lacking)...  I haven't been able to load most websites for the last 3 days (my internet was being seriously raped by another machine on the network.  It sucked [pun not intended, but after typing it, I realized it was slightly funny, so I left it]), otherwise I would have...

As for the Clank, not bad, I guess.  Not that I could do any better.  In that regard, pretty good.  Mouser X out.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: ID recorder
« on: April 15, 2007, 02:18:44 AM »
In case anyone forgot this:
I have a client-side script that will log everyone's BL ID and Name on every server I go to, so the list is constantly updating itself and adding more records. I would give it out so that everyone could participate in building a list of names, but I think people would cheat and haxx it so it submits ID 100 to have had the name "richardface" or something. You can't trust people.

I'll put the list up later if you guys want it.
In other words, such an addon is entirely possible, and I see no reason why it'd lag anything.  The game is already doing all the work that you want this addon to do.  It'd just need to log it, instead of not logging it.  Worst case scenario is that it can't add up the bricks laid and destroyed.  In this case, simply have it record, to a text file, a mark every time a brick is laid, and every time a brick is destroyed.  When you close the server/game, it could, at that time, tally up all the marks, and then record that result to the logged text file.

I'm not a programmer, in that I don't know C, or C++.  But I have been using computers long enough to find it hard to believe that this script would cause serious problems on a server.  If I'm mistaken, then I'll admit to being wrong.  But currently, I can't think of any good reason why this addon would cause a problem.

Anyway, I just thought you'd like to know that half the work is already done for such an addon.  It might not be posted (and won't be, for reasons he stated above), but it certainly exists.  Mouser X over and out.

In case you were wondering, his claim is entirely possible.  There was someone I was forced to remove from my list because I couldn't talk to them.  They could talk to me just fine, but if I replied back, their entire machine crashed.  So yah, it might sound far-fetched, but I honestly find it entirely plausible.

On the other hand, this was few years ago.  You'd think that, by now, such an issue would have been addressed and fixed.  However, it is MSN you're talking about, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least.  Anyway, I just thought you might appreciate having a "second witness" so to say, to back up his claim.  Mouser X over and out.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Module music support
« on: April 14, 2007, 05:13:46 PM »
I know this will never happen, but I'd like to see SPC and PSF support (ADX support would be nice as well.  Since I'm dreaming, I'll mention that).  SPCs are emulated audio from the SNES.  No matter how long the song is, it's always 65k in size.  I've seen SPCs that are more than 12 minutes long.  Also, they loop infinitely.  So, to reiterate, this isn't going to happen (SPC support), but it'd be pretty neat if it did.  Useful as well.

ADX support would be nice as well, but that's even more unlikely.  Unlike SPCs (which users can't create.  They have to be pulled from a SNES game), ADX files can be created by anyone, and they have looping support.  The problem with ADXs, is that they're too big.  Realistically, a 500k ADX is not going to amount to much.  Though, a mono ADX will certainly afford more than a stereo one.

For code and info on SPCs (and a huge slew of emulated audio) and ADXs, you can check out Game Music Emu (for SNES, etc.) and in_cube (for ADX.  The source is available on that page).

As I said, this isn't going to happen.  Still, one can dream.  I'd like to see it, but if it ever did come about, my jaw would drop.  Only on April 1st would I even imagine such a thing might happen...  Still though, I provided some useful information, in case it interests anyone even in the slightest.

(more) ON-TOPIC:
As for MOD, IT, XM, S3M, etc. support, I'm all for that.  Support for that is *far* more likely.  I think it'd be a good idea.  It allows for smaller files (smaller than 500k), and superior audio.  And, if done correctly, I think it can provide looping support.  So, please, feel free to ignore my dreams (above), and instead focus on MOD (and etc.) support.  I see far more use, and functionality, out of that one.

General Discussion / Re: How many of you have retail?
« on: April 10, 2007, 07:36:11 PM »
In regards to #1:  Be sure to put some wings on the pig first, for added effect.

In regards to #2:  I disagree that the pope is evil.  However, I do believe that there is an inherent flaw with some of the things relating to the pope.

In regards to #3 (my real reason for posting this message):

Modding console games isn't as bad as you make it out to be.  GB, NES, SNES, some N64, some PS1, and even some Dreamcast games have editors available for them.  For example the original Star Fox (on the SNES) has an editor available for it.  You can import and export 3D models out of/into the ROM.  All of the Sonic Genesis games are fully moddable.  Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World, and many other SNES games have editors available for them as well.  I've seen a few editors for some N64 games, but not many.  I found a tutorial on how to modify PS1 games (it's pretty extensive, but not very easy).  I've seen some modified Dreamcast games even.

I'm sure there's tons more that I'm not even aware of.  Just saying that modding console games isn't as hard as you may think.  The hard part is figuring it out the first time through.  Once you've done that, the rest is a piece of cake.  On a similar note, I know how to get audio off of Gamecube discs...  So, if I can get the audio files from the game (without recording.  I'm referring to the actual files used by the game itself), then it's not a far stretch to replace those files with other music.  Sure, that's not a very extensive modification, but it's a start.

So, what consoles are Naruto games on?  If it's only available on the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox (and all systems above those, of course), then that will make modding it rather difficult, since I'm not currently aware of any (good) editors for those consoles.  The drunk idea sounds entertaining, but I don't drink.  As such, that option is out for me.

Last, but not least, I don't have retail yet.  I spent a boat load of money on a life-sized* Millenium Falcon, and I'm still trying to recover from that.  Maybe in a paycheck or 2.

So, I'm in a similar boat, in that I can't buy it right now either.  Oh well.  Mouser X over and out.

Help / Re: Blockland Brock my computer and Blockland
« on: April 07, 2007, 04:45:45 PM »
While mostly pointless, I didn't think the first bit was quite enough by itself.  The second bit was to show that hardware can sometimes take more punishment than we realize.  While I don't recommend dousing any part of your PC in water (except maybe the keyboard), let alone while it has power running through it, it might still work just fine.  Yes, mostly pointless.  Just saying that you might be surprised at how much punishment stuff can take is all.

Also, sorry to disappoint.  Unfortunately, I can only be perfect 50% of the time (probably less).  I guess I just got up on the wrong side of the bed.  :P  Mouser X out.

User:       "Hello, tech support?"
Support:  "Hello.  Yes, this is tech support.  May I help you?"
User:       "Uh, I hope so.  My computer is on fire."
Support:  "Sir, hang up, and call the fire department."
User:       "That's not the problem.  How do I make a backup?  Fastest method possible."

The funny part, is that this is a true story (though, the quotes are incorrect.  But you get the idea).  Also, I've been to pawn shops (well, more like Good Will) where the CPU had literally exploded.  You could see melted plastic stuff all over inside the case.

As for a fried video card, years ago I had a brother who made his own active cooling (meaning, it used water) system from 2-liter bottles, electrical tape, and hot glue (DO NOT do that...  It was a bad idea).  Take note, this was before active cooling was widely used.  It was probably around the time the first people were experimenting with it.  Anyway, there was a leak in his system that he was unware of.  He was playing Quake, when it locked up on him.  He looked in his computer, and found a puddle of water on his video card (it had been dripping onto it, thus that's where the water collected).  He was surprised it didn't lockup sooner, considering the amount of water he found there.  After drying everything out/off, he restarted, and it worked fine, luckily for him.  Eventually, he got the leak to be slow enough that having some paper towel on his video card was enough to stop the problems, as the water would dry out just about as fast as it leaked onto it.

Of course, since then, he's gotten better hardware all around.  I strongly doubt he even owns any of that stuff anymore, let alone uses it.

So yah, hopefully it was just the video card,  Good luck on getting a new/better one.  Mouser X out.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Basketball!
« on: April 05, 2007, 12:51:22 AM »
But really, this would be a great idea, the ball would also be able to stay when through a little longer, and also when you click and click and hold, you drule. and possibility, when someone cames near you, they can hit it out of your hands. good idea.
Just to be nice, I've been avoiding posting in this topic.  Since the chain has been broken, I'll add something.  Drule?  Do you mean drool, or dribble?  I've never heard of drule...  Though, I'm also not a fan of basketball either, so perhaps I'm just not up on my terminology.

What's forketball?  Never heard of that one.  I don't have retail yet (check the "You bought it?" thread, I have good reason), so no online for me.  It sounds interesting though.  Personally, I liked the soccer idea the most, of those mentioned.  Though, if I knew what forketball was, that might change.  Anyway, Mouser X out.
