I recently bought this Nintendo 3DS along with Pokémon White and Mario Kart 7 and I was all excited to see the 3D and all. I knew that both games had Wi-Fi and online play support, but knowing that the regular DS games (Pokémon White) would still not support WPA encryption. It was a huge dissapointment. I can't change the router's settings to WEP because WEP is insecure and requires the password to meet a certain criteria, but that would be fine with me if the router weren't my neighbor's (i'm not stealing, we made a deal). I looked all over the stores to find the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector with no luck; I bought an Wi-Fi AP modem that would work as a mirror to distribute encrypted WEP connections to surrounding machines, but sadly, you've got to have the program installed on every machine you want the connection to work on.
For those who don't know what WEP encryption is, it is a very low security system that was created in 1999 and is the only connection type supported by the Nintendo DS. My router's configurations is currently WPA.
Now, I'm about to deliver this modem back to it's place in the store and trade it for something else on the shelves and hopefully it will work. It's an EDUP EP-MS150NW. God, Nintendo, you make me sick. We're in 2012 already.
