Author Topic: Why do I hate coders???  (Read 9752 times)

i'd like to again push my hypothesis that the reason people think all coders are richards is because you don't know the non-richards are coders.

well sure if you wanna spend $20

just like that one joke drama topic where "General Discussion" was drama-ing "Drama"

Meh, I'll figure something out.

A lot of "coders" actually can be starfishs because that either flaunt it, or think they're superior because of it.
That's just one hypothesis. Maybe it could be that you're jealous, or a little bit of both.

Legoboss made a topic on the same subject, claiming to not have known this one existed.

Did something happen recently?

Nope. Just coincidence apparently.

Weird...

Wow...

You know I remember back when I started with Blockland, I had written code elsewhere in other languages but never had a formal class on the subject.
The little things I did I was all high & mighty about thinking they were amazing! But as I look back at my older code, I think "what? no, I couldn't of possibly written this garbage" and "what the heck does this function do, my documentation just says 'it does not work'".

As said earlier in this thread, it's completely just the immaturity of code monkeys in this community, it's also sad to see it hasn't changed much if at all over the years.

But it isn't the fault of the coders alone, I left this community a couple of years ago because I received only crap and hate for whatever I did (granted my methods weren't always the nicest, but still), and because it generally got boring. If people are always giving you crap, you're probably not going to act as the nicest person back to them, especially when you're still a kid and you have not learned how to handle such people (although some will never learn).
This isn't something that's going to happen but if people were more constructive and helped coders learn & grow, we'd see a lot less of the drama and crap we see today.

I hate coders too.

In the field of computer system design they are the bottom tier scum.

Yet you don't explain why...

Anyway, you people need to calm down with the generalizations. You all act like you know all of Blockland's coders. Maybe you hate them so much because the ones that flaunt it are the only ones you really notice...

I'll just use myself as an example. Sure, I don't program as much as some, but I still do. Yet nobody seems to even know I code (save a few). This is because I don't advertise it like some people. Not-so-coincidentally, I don't really know of anyone who hates me or even dislikes me, really. Not necessarily saying all well-known coders are show offs, but those that are somewhat earn their "fame" from their showiness. Therefore, it is not a good argument to say you hate all coders. It really just doesn't work that way.

Yet you don't explain why...
It's pretty obvious why. Do you really think the people stringing the code together get as much respect as the people who designed the system to begin with?

The credit is deserved on both sides. Without the designers, there would be no ideas, and without coders, no product would be made. It's just another "chicken or egg" scenario.

And yeah, as BTB, ultimax and others have already stated, the only ones being richards are the ones that actually being showoffs about it, and you only notice and dislike those being showoffs about it.
