XP Weekend notifications:
----------------------------------
The economy WILL most certainly go nuts. Most of my friends list (87 people) are dedicating themselves to buying summoning supplies and herbs to get huge xp really quickly.
If you want to get something out of the weekend's economy and maximise the xp boost I have some tips:
- Obtain supplies NOW which a lot of people will be rushing to get in 2 weeks. They will be cheaper now. If you do not intend to use the materials for XP, they can be sold a day before, giving instant profit.
- Kill NPCs for materials such as herbs. Chaos druids are awesome for a lot of herbs for example, and provided you know where to get things, you can get them efficiently and most of all: FREE.
- Set an order for skills to gain. Remember that every 15 minutes you spend playing, the xp counter decreases: 2.7, 2.5, 2.3, 2.1, 1.9, 1.7, 1.5, 1.4, 1.3, 1.2, 1.1. Do the quicker skills first like herblore and fletching to maximise gain, skills like summoning and smithing that require running next, and only do slow skills like dungeoneering and agility as a last bit of xp. If you are clever enough, you will work out that even if you do a SMALL floor in dungeoneering, you are pushed to get a decent xp total within 15 minutes.
- Work on harder skills. Personally, I don't see the point in working on fletching and woodcutting since they give nice high xp anyway, so why not do construction, which gives high xp normally, but at higher cost. The first 15 minutes will give you 2.7x more for your money.
- Make sure you know what and where you are going...every minute wasted working out what to do next is another minute of extra xp wasted. Stock up on teleport runes and tabs for quick transportation to different locations.
- If you do farming, grow trees and slower crops the day before the xp arrives. This way, you can instantly log on and get maxed farming xp. Growing crops after that and coming back later will also provide you will smaller, but not much less xp, especially if you take advantage of quicker crops such as potatoes which are cheap and normally give low xp.
- Choose empty worlds and be prepared to hop. If you mine or woodcut, multiple people in the same location as you will only slow you down.
Considering I made most them up as I wrote them, I think it's a pretty good guide :-)
