Ok, I have one more question for today. Should I get the latest version of blender (2.61), or should I get 2.5, or anything between? I plan on modeling with one of the newer versions and exporting with 2.49, but which newer version should I get, or does it even matter? I'm totally clueless, ugh.

I see no reason not to get the newest (2.61) available Blender. You need 2.49b for exporting anyways. Just keep in mind that you must animate in Blender 2.49b. No way around that.

You mean 2.49a can't export?

I don't know. Why would you use an older version? 2.49b is the latest Blender version before the major changes of version 2.5.

Now I'm trying to download Blender 2.49b. Which thing do I download on this link. I have windows.

Do you have windows XP or Vista/7?
XP is 32 bit, while Vista/7 is both 32 and 64 bit

Hey Corporation, thanks for the help. Could you help me with this question also? It is at the bottom of the page at this link.

The collision box is a symmetrical convex shape that surrounds the model on a different layer allowing for... collision.
It MUST be convex, otherwise, it starts to glitch.
It usually centers around the main part of the model, giving a rounded shape.

Ugh, I still don't understand how to get the low poly outline of my vehicle model. I'm trying to make the parent of the low poly outline an empty named Col0. How do I make the outline though? There is a picture of what the outline is supposed to look like on this page - http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=66763.0

Do I actually add a cube mesh and make it outline my vehicle? I just want to finish my vehicle! Google won't help me with this, so if you could tell me how to make the convex shaped collision box I would be very happy.

Just go with a cube for now.

Ok, this is what I did. I added a cube, fitted it to the shape of my vehicle, and then went to object mode, to the object tab, and selected "Bounds" for draw type. Is this all I need to do for my collision box, other than naming it Col, parenting it to the empty (Col0), and parenting that empty (Col0) to another empty (Shape)?

I also parented all my armatures and meshes to Detail32 and parented Detail32 to Shape.

Now I'm having trouble installing the DTS Exporter. I save it to BlenderFoundation/.blender/scripts/ folder but the option to export to a DTS file isn't showing up while in blender. Yes, I restarted Blender...  Any ideas why it isn't working? Oh, and when I right click start button, explore, and go back to the place where I saved it, it isn't there, and all the files are in the form of "python files."

Perhaps if I save it as "DTS_Export" it will work? Because that is the format of the other export files in BlenderFoundation/.blender/scripts/ folder?

Download python 2.6.3 and 2.6.2

Like both, because I had a problem with the exporter, and something got messed up.
So I did what shad did, and installed both.

Blender 2.49b needs Python 2.6.2.
Blender 2.5+ doesn't need external Python.

Blender 2.49b needs Python 2.6.2.

Funny
I installed both and my blender console says-
Code: [Select]
Compiled with Python version 2.6.2.
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Checking for installed Python... No installed Python found.
Only built-in modules are available.  Some scripts may not run.
Continuing happily.

And I can export
