How many clients can you handle at once?

kalphiter, i hear kniaz has been waiting patiently for his server for more than a week?

I go on vacation for 8 days on Tuesday, but that only means I will not accept new clients for that period.

The server itself has about 16 GB of memory and a octocore CPU, which can support about 75 Blockland servers.

answered?

on TUESDAY? i thought he said he was leaving on thursday.

why the forget didn't he take care of this stuff before he left?

Pretty sure that CPU wouldn't cope with 75 servers, nor would 16GB memory be enough.

Blockland never has enough players online to overuse the server.

Not 75 full servers, but for what is currently hosted, that is plenty.

It's the networking what is the problem. That data-centre must have some sort of network problems.

Show your calculations. You're right about CPU, I never factored that in. But for memory, 75 servers is the lowest number I chose (15GB / 200 MB), since it's best to always factor high usage.

I've fixed networking issues.

Well assuming each server could use 1.67GB, you're overselling by 110GB of memory lol. Overselling is fine if you can manage it, but that level of overselling isn't acceptable - hence why my nodes will be limited to 25 servers.

Overselling isn't a huge issue on such a small scale operation IMO.

How is having more than enough ram a bad idea?

Sure but it's important to consider. He says he hosts 35 servers or something, if all of them used atleast 400mb of RAM, which is entirely plausible, he'd be in the embarrassing situation where he has to apologise to paying clients, accepting he failed to understand resource exhaustion, not speccing a good enough node.

Maybe my head is too in the real world, this is just a small operation on BL after all.

Clearly you either haven't read the last few posts, or you don't understand.

You obviously didn't do your math. Try again, maybe you'll get it right.

Shows how much you know about hosting Blockland servers.

kalphiter, why can't you setup kniaz's server via the method you're using to post? i know there are RDP apps for mobile devices, so unless you're using a DS or some flip phone, you have no excuses!!!!1111!!
