Author Topic: Darkfall - my stuffty experience  (Read 2156 times)

I used to play this game goblins weren't to hard but I got tired of it  after I stole a ship and found out how easy it is to take valuable things ,I don't know why anyone would even make a ship if they are so easy to take.

Darkfall was started in 2001 and released in 2009, you were waiting for a game that was started only 2 years after EQ1. Also I am not ignoring that you get owned by pros all day. I mean the game is centered around hardcore PVP, people like it, Ultima Online had an even more hardcore PVP system and it was never hurting with subscribers, it is unappealing to you but it isn't to a lot of people. Also getting murdered is avoidable if you know how to play, you just have to be smart about it, you can't make a lot of noise and stand near a busy road in the most popular goblin spot and not expect risks. Grind isn't repetitive to me, If I feel like shooting stuff with a bow, I grab my bow, go to a camp, and shoot stuff with a bow, when I get bored I do what I want to do next. As long as you grind in a way you find fun it is not a problem. Also you kind of went at it the wrong way from the beginning, the game world is huge and you could have joined one of the many of clans, like 50, that are designed to help low levels, they would have given you endless gear, brought you to a city with not much traffic, and taught you the basics. You chose to just rage in silence and not use the best aspect of MMO games: You have hundreds of people to help you.

So I was supposed to rely on game concepts that weren't taught in the tutorial or inferred by anyone at all

Sounds rock-solid to me

WoW doesn't tell you to join a guild at the beginning, yet you can join a guild and they will give you some gold usually and maybe help you do dungeons. They can't assume you don't know anything, they assume every player has a bit of common sense. When I first started I knew a clan was going to be a big deal in a FFA PVP game, so it was the first thing I did was join one.

Visage, what's your problem? People are allowed to dislike the games that you like.

A. I was not aware that the game was designed to be almost entirely PVP. Nothing said that, nothing made me aware of that, everything went AGAINST that concept (quests, NPC's, etc).
B. Guilds/Clans are supposed to be optional, something you join to be a part of a large team, not something that is required to survive.

This still boils down to "poor game design".

Oh my go-

This tends to be why I stick to maplestory. its on the fence when it comes to skill and pressing buttons. (if you're a melee class or a magician.)
but maplestory doesent really have pvp so lolo

Now you're just trying to make up stuff. "The game had quests and NPCs how was I to know there would be PVP!" Also clans are optional, and are to be part of a large team, and they are not required to survive. So clans in this game are exactly what you expect in a game.

From what ive read, you HAVE to be in one to stop what happened to poor yuki from happening.

-If I'm fighting NPC's and doing quests for NPC's, them I'm predisposed to believe that I'm not supposed to be fighting other players.
You're arguing with someone with little to no MMO experience, remember.
