The most important thing to do when raising a kid is to be a role model.

If you tell them not to lie while you lie, they will lie back.
If you tell them not to smoke while smoking, they will have an increased risk of being a smoker.
If you tell your kids to eat right and exercise while scarfing down a box of twinkies every night, they will give your advice no credibility.

I didn't know you were THAT impressionable, Iban :cookieMonster:

All kids are.

There's no punchline here. It's not a joke. Fat parents raise fat kids. That's how it works.

All kids are.

There is strong evidence suggesting gay is a recessive gene. So, yeah, parents carrying this gene would raise gay children.

All kids are.

Not always. 'Fat' people can raise athletes and vice versa. Children are people, just as you or I. Granted, while a bit more impressionable, not every single child will do or say things exactly as their parents. There are a great deal of factors that go into who they - as well as we - are and, while parents are a grand factor, it can never be certain how any child will be influenced.

Children aren't clay, nor are they clones. They will be individualized in certain ways but there is no doubt, either in mathematical probability in a moral scope, that kids will take the vast majority of their personality traits are contingent on how they were raised.

That is what I'm saying. But parents aren't the only people who raise a child. :o

Child punishment is like pretty much everything. Good and bad in it. If you punish your child (Like Beating the stuff out of them) for something minor, like saying "Damn", you deserve to have your intestines pulled out through a hole in your stomach. If, however your child beats up a nerd, has a lot of love, and is generally a douche, that's where I hate the soccer moms enforcing all these child protection rules.

ok

if you raise a child for 8 years of its life and then it is abducted and raped on a daily basis until it turns 14 and is reclaimed by the FBI, chances are your efforts at raising it will not matter.

point is valid but non-applicable for the majority of children.

however your child beats up a nerd, has a lot of love
are you planning on spanking your 16 year old boy for having too much love or do you just think it's natural for 8 year olds to go at it?

But my parents aren't gay. Explain that one.

It's okay if your son has a lot of love! In fact, he should as much as he can, even though he's not even an adult yet!

Prince N, go be an idiot in a different thread.

How am I being an idiot? Evaluate.

I think the word you're searching for is explain.

But my parents aren't gay. Explain that one.
