Xavier woke up the next day, fully recovered from the battle the day before. He jogged out to the airfield, seeing allied ships fly in and out, along with Italian Resistance Vertibirds. (yes, like from fallout.) A Vertibird rolled in on the runway. Before it even stopped, one of the IR leaders jumped out. "Gultrum, I'm promoting you to acting field commander of the Italian Resistance. Me and the rest of the command team are heading out into D.C. Good luck out here." Xavier nodded, pinning the badge he just received on. "Thank you, sir." The General hopped back into the Vertibird, saluting the field commander. He returned it. The Vertibird took off again, flying off towards the US.
He radioed in, telling all to spread the news. He hopped into the next Vertibird coming in. He learned it was part of an attack force with three Allied gunships, two of their dropships, four of the IR's Vertibirds, an IR gunship, and two Allied vehicles carriers with Humvee M75s, armed with plasma autocannons.
The attack force arrived soon. The allied troops used Jetboots to jump out and slow their fall, jumping straight into the fight. The Vertibirds landing, deploying the troops. They deployed some laser fire, before flying off. One was shot down. The four gunships blanketed fire across the ground, killing many Soviets. A Russian jet was shot out of the sky, smashing into the Allied gunship. It smashed into another, then another. The IR's gunship pulled out. The Carriers arrived shortly after, dropping their load.
Xavier looked around at the battle. They were driving the Russian out of Venice. Two Soviet T-73s jumped in from above, taking down a vehicle carrier as it flew off. The Humvees took out the Walking Tanks. Xavier raised his SIAIR, raining newly-gained explosive ammo on the enemies. Once he had depleted those rounds, he changed to regular .45 caliber rounds.
Whistling rang through the soldier's ears. Xavier hadn't ordered a fire mission. "Did anyone order a fire mission?!" he yelled over the radio. "No sir!" "Negative." "That's a negative." "Sir no sir!" He grabbed a soldier's UAV uplink, scanning for artillery. He found the source. Two Soviet MAP (mobile artillery platforms) were firing away. "GET DOWN! ENEMY EHM AYE PEE!" The rounds struck. It would be five minutes till the next volley. "Requesting fast-and-low bomb on 41 31 63!" "Copy that Ghost 1." Three bombers streaked through the sky, dropping their payload on the MAPs. Two were shot out of the sky, and the third made it back to base.
Seven CASB Mk 95s rolled down the cbrown towns. The troops offloaded, other then the three on each operating the guns. Xavier took his squad onto them, rolling down the cbrown towns, providing support for his men. It felt good to say his troops. He noticed red lights in the water. Soviet recon probes, armed with one Floater charge. Called Sharks by the Allied Forces. The gunners offloaded their depth charges, destroying the Sharks, but not before one Compact Assualt Speed Boat was destroyed.
They unloaded up-river, just as the IR pushed forward. One mile from the border of Venice. They would have to keep pushing. Xavier's SIAIR spit out a whole clip, mowing down four Russians. He saw a rocket being launched from the enemy. With the prescision targeting system, he shot the rocket coming from it, killing the rocketeer. They were winning, and pushing the Russians out of Italy. But they didn't realize the huge mousetrap ahead of them.
