Author Topic: Zombies are People, Too [v3]  (Read 35950 times)

I guess my main gripe with this mod is the amount of zombies around at any one time. There are far too few. Is there some hard limit for the amount of bots?

I really think a spawn baseplate would be good. Because then you wouldn't know where the zombies where going to spawn and make it more challenging.

Might I suggest that i be more challenging, yet more possible to survive through skill. Like you can fight off being slapped by a jockey if you tap a button rapidly or you can wrestle with a leaper, or maybe even fight off  a smoker by cutting its tongue. These would make the whole ZAPT theme one of the best B.L has seen if it isn't already  :cookieMonster:

Did you increase the default amount of bots Blockland allows? That might be the problem.

I would like to see a zombie that walks slower than humans, but still has around the same health as a regular human. Kind of the "Classic Zombie" approach

Wouldn't that kind of zombie be kind of easy to kill in small numbers? It would maybe be a better idea to make it walk slower than humans, have more health, climb (albeit slowly), and make other nearby zombies alert to the presence of players.

Oh boy, a topic where I can complain to Iban about all the reasons I find the current ZAPT stuffty.

Here are my main problems with ZAPT:

  • events. this mod NEEDS to be able to work with bot events. This is my one biggest problem with the entire mod. the mod may also benefit form having some events of it's own.
  • the director. I think there should be an option to disable it, (is there one already? I've looked and can't find any) and when  this option is activated, zombies spawn either as they do in L4B, or when player get within a certain distance of the spawn.
  • Health. the regular zombies have far to much. I'm fine with special infected having a good amount of health, but it's just stupid to give 150 health to a regular zombie. But hey, at least I can change this with events, right? nope.
  • Freedom. This mod needs to have a setting where you have compete freedom, where zombies just spawn and the player has as many lives as the mini game dictates
and the only defined goal is one the host and build have set for you, not ZAPT. A setting where you could be having zombies in a TDM and the only noticeable effect would be that in your TDM you'd occasionally encounter a brains-hungry NPC. I may be a bit to unclear on this last request, feel free to ask me more about what I have in mind.
Sorry if these have been suggested before, I didn't want to read through this whole topic.

What if he doesn't want to fight them in small numbers, just like me? that's another problem  had with this mod, it's centered around mono e mono fights between one player and one zombie, something that has be proven bad for zombie gmaes over the ages.

Exactly, Maybe he could remove some of their intelligence so that more could be on screen at once. Maybe there are other ways, but fighting 12+ slow zombies sounds more fun than fighting 4+ fast ones

I don't now what you guy's problem is. I have absolutely no issues setting up and fighting large hordes of zombies without the Mob Spawner. Iban also explained already why removing the director was a bad idea. The gamemode already allows for absolute freedom, you just have to fiddle with some settings.

Good idea but you see the only way to really kill zombies is by a headshot... or at least thats how CLASSIC zombies work, but modern zombies who gives a darn...

People really need to actually throughly use this mod before suggesting anything.

Because alot of what people ask for is already do able.

1. Our problem with large hordes isn't spawning them, it's the fact that the addon isn't made for large hordes.
2.Would you care to try to convince me that it is best to always keep the director in, or at least post a quote of Iban saying that it was.
3.Well then, if the game mode does allow for some of the things I asked for, then now it's a a case of making the options that go with ZAPT easier.

And yes Kevin, I HAVE used ZAPT. In fact, there was a long period of time where I was desperately trying to convince myself that I was having more fun with ZAPT than L4B. But lo, high health, annoying director, and, as the hardest blow, an inability to work with bot events would not let it be so!

Just remember, all other things I complain about could be circumvented if these zombies only worked with events meant to target bots.

I honestly like L4B more because of how simple it is. You can just put down a spawn and have a zombie start attacking you. Nothing complicated to it, while ZAPT has so many new script features that it gets annoying. It gets annoying when I try to make a minigame and set down Zombie spawns and when I wrench them all I get is "This zombie will spawn when the director chooses".

ZAPT is like my early add-ons: I thought it looked good, so I kept adding, and adding-

I don't like how this rips off left4dead. Also there is many minor console errors and how come a single zombie can tear down over 20 bricks per second?
