In English it does, there is no "th" sound in Japanese so they substitute it with an "S" when speaking and spelling English words.

サンキュー (sankyuu) is another example, it's literally the English "Thankyou", but it's spelled with an "s" sound instead of a "th" because the "th" sound does not exist in Japanese.
