I blame the Era of the RPG.
When you helped give rise to it? >.>

Anyways, Ive only seen v13 and above, but my friend has seen v10, back in the days of RTB2. No loving restrictions on the mods. Sounds good to me. :/

What kind of restrictions are you talking about?

Now that I think about it, All versions had there good things.
v8: Beginning, everything still was new in my eyes. USSR servers
v9: more friends and everything was all spammy and stuff, oh god I loved it. USSR servers
v10: Zombies
v11: Can't remember
v12: Alien technology build
v13: L4B
v14: Built a lego house in Blockland, Scudmasters Fallout3 server.
v15: A certain lab build
v16: TT
v17: Can't remember
v18:lolnone
current: Several Medieval servers and Bluzone**
Yes some versions and build are messed up, I'd have to go through my folders to find all of them to make sense

After reading through this thread I feel like i've missed something.

I joined in late v13.

Yeah I think I only played a day or 2 and then it was v14.

What the hell is this? Am I the only one who doesn't think V7-9 or v0002 were the best versions of blockland? I am constantly hearing in servers "oh I wish it was still v8 all the add-ons were great." What is it that people like about the old versions so much? They were glitchy and lame compared to V19.
v0002 was the best version I ever used. Its a shame badspot made bricks dynamic for retail. Now the editor's wand won't spin bricks or make dem big. Its like a mission editor in a wand :3

I had all my best times in early retail.

There were better characters back then.

People you could love.
People you could admire.
People you could respect.

Now?
Most 'celebrities' simply made some add-on, and yet somehow they are revered even if their personalities suck and they can't build.

yeah, definitely

I can't build worth a stuff.

And don't we know it!

Before, in v8, even tho I joined in v9, or 3 days before v10 came out..., back to my point. All the players were more together, we had a sence of  We are blocklanders, now most of the low id's that were back then have left, and the newest Blocklanders think that Bl is on big giant Dm, where you kill everybody.
Ps: Back then, There was alot of Id racism and " The Roblox War" On some stupid servers

The way I see it is simple:

Blockland is the most idealistic platform for testing game ideas and philosophy.

It's a game where map-making is as simple as building with legos. It has an add-on system built in and people are used to downloading massive amounts of content.

TorqueScript resembles PHP and is a C# derivative which means the syntax is virtually identical to most of the mainstream and high-in-demand programming languages out there. Not to mention, if you want to practice programming with work-arounds, look no further.

I have an audience of people hungry for ingenuity and novelty. I have a platform to run it on. It just makes sense to utilize it, even if the "brick building" aspect of a brick building game is entirely lost to me.

Building isn't everything, but as it's the game's main theme, I think it should be something which should be given more audience than weapons and maps.

Name some people? There's tons of people you can all make friends with, but most of you blow them off because they don't sit around posting crap on the forums or because you've never heard of them before.

No, children think blockland is a big DM. You seem to think all new players love only fighting. Fighting servers are at the top mainly because they are more fast paced than building, and not everyone can build well, but everyone can fight well enough to enjoy it.

There's this thing called rosy retrospection. It's when think the past was better than it actually was at the time. Playing in the old blockland days was no different than it is today, it's just that you give the past more credit than it deserves. Your memories appear to be more pleasant than they actually were, because they are memories. If you could re create a few of the memories today, without knowing that they previously happened, you would still probably think the older versions were better.
