Author Topic: The Golden Age of Blockland  (Read 14244 times)

V8 wasn't exactly a "friendly" period, if I do say so myself. It just happened to be one of the very first times an increasingly large amount of accounts were being purchased. This in turn meant more fresh, ignorant players, who had absolutely nothing to compare themselves, or other people to. This low bar in expectations meant a happier, more humble society.

But let's be practical here, it's pretty much the same as it has been, except with an increase in population. There's bound to be some disproportion here and there, but it's all within a general radius of good and bad.

The reason I miss the old days is 1. the sense of discovery or whatever when I was new and 2. the better userbase. Servers were straight up better back then, now the list is flooded with stuff servers. Not all of em, but a lot of em.

Just look:

Build quality on average is decreasing.
We're taking on more new members than I think the community can handle at one time.
Several Blockland "veterans" are leaving.
There is still so much stuff in our forums.

Our building skills are being stuff on because we've lost our "vets" to set the bar for the new generation. Further worsening the problem is that we have a bigass new generation (15k and above). And everyother day I hear about some richardwad on the forums.

Either we pull our head out of our ass, or die.

v8....

I still remember those broken polygons.

3k ID here
I remember when people called 3ks newbs lol

19k here

agree, olden days were cash

I had to reinstall Blockland just to make it run. But I had a huge lack of computer knowledge back then.

I take offense to this since my building skills are good and I'm a 15k ID.

You get more idiots in the 20k IDs.

I don't see why you guys care about the average players building skills. If you can still build well, why do you care how well other people build?

see, i don't like the idea of "veterans", hell, i seen some new players better then most low ids.

yes i love my 1205 id, but i'm not going to consider my self "better" then some people.

(yes my pixel art may be good, but my building skills overall arn't that great, :D)

The only reason why Blockland isn't as big as Minecraft and Roblox is because Badspot doesn't know how to advertise Blockland. Otherwise he would most likely do it.

And Heed, seeing as you don't like RTB right now, I'm surprised you think this version is better than old ones.

Personally, I think Blockland now (v19) and Blockland v0002 are the best of there kind.

Badspot doesn't know how to advertise Blockland.

he does advertise. i seen blockland adverts on some sites, and it made me happy, :D

But not on a scale needed for massive growth.

Cobra, Homing Vector, and Sniper > Most New weapons.

I saw a blockland ad on youtube.
