Author Topic: Let's Play League of Legends (OFF AIR)  (Read 14072 times)

I looked at my steam friends list and I see that it's utterly pointless to do it today, since 90% of gamers in a position to watch are playing Portal 2.

Got my mic
(I'm Tater btw)

D:

Ah well im playing mortal kombat 9  :cookieMonster:

Guys add me!  Dradge

>:OOO

Sorry I couldn't play today, I was getting my Portal 2 on. I'll be doing it tomorrow, too.

You might lag but apparently there's some way to play in US servers anyway, do your homework. At the very least if you have a mic you can try being a commentator to the show.

Just a reminder, you will most likely not be added through this topic, and you guys should really stop trying. To be a commentator, say something in chat during the show; to be a player, do the same and/or add sparten666 to your friends list and message me during the show.

The show was cancelled yesterday on account of everyone on earth playing portal 2. For the same reason, I might cancel today as well; I'll see how many of my steam friends are still playing it as a gauge.

We'd like more viewers and we need more funny people with microphones. Spread the word.

Ill be game for tonight Wallet, ill stick on steam untill i see cookie.

In general my advice for avoiding bogus LoL info is when someone just hands you a list of skills and items without justifying the overall strategy and how the items and their acquisition order falls into that strategy. If all you get is a bulleted tl;dr list of what to do, this presents a few problems:
  • It doesn't make you better at the champion, so in the edge cases where the general strat would be tweaked, you can't think on your feet because you didn't actually learn anything.
  • If you're not shown how the build was derived, you have no way to test the result against your common sense - you have no idea if the person who wrote the guide is so obviously wrong that you can ignore it and move on to the next one. Specifically, a good guide should recognize likely criticisms of the build and assure the player that the guide-writer is aware of these things and defend the decision. (e.g. is more than 1 archangel's staff really worth it if the passive mana-to-AP bonus doesn't stack? I don't know; you tell me, guide writer.)
  • Builds rely almost as much on play style as the champion itself. AD Shaco and Mana/CD Shaco are both awesome builds, but they need to be played completely differently. I often see people people only familiar with the more common AD build ridiculing players who opt for the latter build quite unfairly, because yeah, if you play him like AD Shaco, it is indeed a stupid and pointless build. Even champions that don't have a lot of playstyle leeway like Warwick should get at least a glossing-over because it's a guide. You can't just assume the decisions front and center in the UI (shopping and skill order) are the only ones a player needs help with. And yes, I realize he only asked how to "build" heimer. But the build is pointless without the play style. You can't give someone a jungle build and not at LEAST say, "this is a jungle build". Or give someone a build with boatloads of mana regen like the above one and not at least say, "spam them missiles". Am I also spamming the grenades to maximize damage, or saving them on sure stuns? I don't know; he didn't tell us.
  • Finally, if the person writing the guide doesn't help you prepare for edge cases, doesn't walk you through their logic, and assumes that you, the guide-seeker, already know enough about the champion that you will automatically play in the same style that they do, this is someone who is demonstrating a lack of skill in the game, in guide-writing, or both. This is reason enough to be wary the information.

Sorry to tear you down but I felt that learning how to learn is a more critical focus than learning itself. Thanks for being an example at any rate.  :cookieMonster:

And having a ridiculous accent that we will make fun of is an asset, not a liability. We are always looking for ways to ridicule each other for the sake of the audience.

Portal 2 is still way too popular, so I'm canceling today as well.

I main heimer, and, this is just me.

But I opt for surviability early game and get massive ap late game.

Works like

Mana crystal-> Tear of goddess+boots-> Enemy dependant boots->Either go for Rod of ages if your getting hammered/ or rylais if your doing well for chasing-> Rabbadons/Zhonya's hour glass, depending again on if your winning/ getting focused and dieing. Then I usually build some magic pen into it.

I play heimer as a more of "Come nere these turrets if being chased for a face full of shrapenel" Support burst mage basically.

Again Mr. Wallets true just throwing out some vague ideas based on what I do.

Tear of goddess is basically a must have though.

And I perfer rylas because it can help gank over extenders, catch runners, slow chasers with your ult etc.

New guy looks cool, on another note.

Meh, me being Chinese, I'm looking forward more to the Monkey King.

and I assume his name is Sun Wukong.

He does look intresting, Hes gonna be anothe assasin/ bruiser.

All Riot releases nowa days T_T

to be fair, rumble seems like an AP nuke.
