Caroline is defiantly in the GLaDOS, Cave mighty have died before he got in the computer. But because GLaDOS can delete Caroline and still stay alive, I'm guessing she has may different personalities inside her. My theory is that Cave did get into GLaDOS, GLaDOS seems to share his love of science and his methods of doing it. I think they also have the same sense of sarcasm.

Well GLaDOS might be just Caroline.
The turret group that sings at the end says in Italian:

But when translated in to English:

My dear, beautiful darling, my child that i admire.
To my dear, farewell! My dear girl, why not walk far away from science?
My dear, dear girl. To my lovely. To my dear. To my dear. To my child, My dear, dear to me!

So did GLaDOS really delete caroline?

Cave wanted his mind to be put in an AI before he died. If he died before then Caroline would take over. Cave obviously died before then, so they put Caroline's brain into a computer.

Caroline was a program inside of GLaDoS that forced her to want to test and be cruel.  That's why at the end, GLaDoS deletes Caroline.

But GLaDos is still cruel (and testing hurr) in coop. I thought coop was in the storyline after single player.

I can't think of any other time it could take place.

Portal 1 happens - GLaDoS wakes back up - Single player - GLaDoS becomes a potato - GLaDoS is restored to normal.

Coop can't take place while GLaDoS is still "dead", during single player she's busy with Chell, and she couldn't have been testing the coop bots while she was a potato.
