Make a really long platform to run on while fighting so you don't have to concentrate on lava and the giant monster or get obsidian skin and water walking potion.

Minishark. Piercing weapons. Obsidian skin potions. Health Potions. forgetton of ammo.
IMO an obsidian shield would help, too.
