It turns out leet was right about skeletron, but not entirely.

If you don't kill skeletron, you can go into the dungeon(at night ofc) and try and kill the 5000 skeletron heads that come after you. If you kill one of those, it counts as killing the real skeletron so you get access to the dungeon.
