Author Topic: School, believe it or not, is mostly pointless. (Shut up and read this.)  (Read 7890 times)

Stop acting like a bum and deal with it. Algebra actually plays a huge part in plenty of jobs. How do you think businessmen figure out their sales money and stuff? And geometry, as previously noted, is important for architects. English? Would you rather be an illiterate bum that can't do anything worth while because he reads like the Waterboy? And anyway, you're in sixth grade! Who are you to decide what's pointless and what isn't?

I know school is required for higher education, but you loving dumbasses are pissing me off because 90% of you dont understand what I'm saying. YES. SCHOOL IS ENTIRELY NEEDED FOR GOOD JOBS, AND I AGREE. My point is that school either teaches things you dont need to know, like more than 3/4 of Social Studies. And again, math teachers teach you one thing, most likely it will be unneeded in life or you've learned it before, and then tell you to do the same stuff over and over for a week. And homework, I'm sure everyone can agree is pointless. It doesnt help you with learning stuff, it's just about turning it in on time for a grade, which is entirely unnecessary.
You might need them, and everything in school is important. What if you get fired one day and you need another job? Oh, that's right, you don't know anything else because you never payed attention in school. Homework, does help. ITS CALLED REVIEWING. Reviewing makes sure you keep all of that information in your tiny head.

I totally agree with everything on the OP. And, WhoCares99 is my best friend.

i hope you enjoy sleeping on pavement, OP

I love History. Sure taking notes is boring, but it's fun seeing changes and doing some projects. Math, some of it is useful, some of it is uselss. It depends on what you're going to "be", when you grow up. If you're going to be the next Pepsi stock examiner, and finding an exponential growth and decay from past and present dates, you'll probably need algebra. If you're going to work at McDonald's for a low minimum wage selling rubber burgers, just learn Spanish (IMO).

School is important. What's more important is how you use that school knowledge to guide your life to better roads.

Geometry? Are you loving serious?
Architects need it.
Why, you need to know about Geometry to play Blockland as well.

uh no
everyone needs geometry.
if you cant handle geometry you're really stupid and won't contribute to society.

Not really.

I played Blockland before I took geometry.  It can help you understand things involving angles, design, etc. but it isn't really needed to play it.

My geometry class involves mainly just proving things within figures, prisms, etc. and other various theoretical aspects of geometry.

Its still something that you might need a basic background on.

I'm sorry, but your dumb.

If you mix all of these together and are skilled with them, you have a pretty good life going, and then mix that with what you learned already and your a successful person.

Wait, you want to work in a fast food place, hah!

Besides, don't you want to be smart, above others?

Derroith dont bash my freind :c

A basic background, definitely.

Basic math is algebra. "4+4=" might as well be "4+4=X, what is X?"

I admit it wasn't until the 9th grade that I truely realized it, but history is very important to know (prior to this I had just thought it fun). People make references to events in history all the time, and to not know what came before you is to not understand why things are the way they are.
Once you know this, you can make better decisions economically, politically, and socially.

Same for me too.

Pre IB World Studies helped me understand the evolution of our and European political and economical systems during the modern age. Best thing I was ever taught.
