Sorry but it's true, the bullets and rockets of the Sentry should push you back out of range while you're at that super-slow spin-up speed, reducing your damage to almost nothing while the Engineer easily makes repairs

thats why you spin up before the medic ubers you
normally what i try to do (and normally succeed in) is this:
Stand around the corner before the sentry
Spin up
Walk around corner still spinning
Just as the sentry sees you, the medic activates the uber
You smash the sentry with your increased damage
You win
