the shotgun is also hitscan while the flaregun is a projectile. you don't have to predict for every shot.
IMO the flaregun is a perfect sidegrade to the shotgun.

This alone makes the Shotgun superior.
Why, because it makes you better against one out of the 9 classes in this game? Yeah right.

Shotgun can be used in water too, so you'll at least have a better way of protecting yourself at range while in deep water

True, but you shouldn't really be in water for extended periods anyways. And you still have melee, although most people use the Postal Pummeler/Axtinguisher.

Not like many maps have water.
I mean, Hydro doesn't even have enough water to submerge yourself in and look at it's name.

BUT WHO PLAYS HYDRO ANYWAY?

Holy stuff. More and more, my TF2 crashes. Hopefully, it's not just me.

I think the Shotgun is better against all 9 classes, except MAYBE sniper.

The Flare Gun is better against any class that moves at a equal or faster move speed than the pyro.

No, seriously, if a class like the scout is fleeing from you, and you have the shotgun equipped, you're not going to be able to finish him off, unless you have incredible luck, or if the scout has low health, such as ~20.

You need even more luck to hit a fleeing scout with a flare.

Haha, what. If you have good aim, which honestly a good deal of TF2 players do not possess, then you should be able to hit the scout 70% of the time, unless he pulls off some advanced maneuver.

dkamm meant that most scouts don't run in a straight line.
