2nd generation.
So if I bought an entirely new Ipod, then will that be a problem when I try to jailbreak it?

Installing Windows 95 on an IPad is one of the most godly things you can ever do.

It might be a little different, but currently all iPods/iPhones can be jailbroken.

That's great! I draw a lot so would it be possible to set my artwork in the background? Or even use an app to color it in? This is going to be my first flexible tech device.

Should I root my HTC Wildfire?

Yes, you can transfer pictures over to your iPod to use as a background, but I don't know of any apps to "color it in".

Should I root my HTC Wildfire?

Yes, you can install CyanogenMod 7 on it.

:D

So I run Z4 first, then install ROM Manager and then install CyanogenMod?

Yup.

Yup.
Alright, and does it make a difference if I get ROM manager (free) from the Android Market after I run Z4? Or should I get it before?

Get it after, it requires superuser, which comes after you run Z4.

Haven't rooted it yet, but is there still a chance of bricking it after it's all rooted and done?

Rooting isn't dangerous at all, the only way you can end up bricking it is if you somehow stop ClockworkMod from flashing CyanogenMod to your device, and even then, you'll just have to use HTC's ROM update utility to get back onto the stock ROM and do it again.

I'm guessing the latest one, 0.9.6rc18.
