Author Topic: I'm no longer confused and quite content: The story of a man and his laptop  (Read 4647 times)

Thanks, the pep talks are actually giving me confidence to stand up to him. I'm not sure if I should call and assert the forget out of him or just do it face-to-face. If I go over there then I'll be closer to getting the laptop and have the element of surprise (assuming my mom doesn't call him while I'm on my way, which I have a feeling she might), but then I have to deal with him in person. I'm taller than him but the front porch is low and he's easily stronger than me. :l

I also don't know if I can borrow my mom's car, when she found out I told my father I'd come pick up the laptop she asked how I planned to get there, implying she wouldn't have let me borrow the car for that
wait until night, sneak into car, drive there, sneak into house, grab, leaving snooty note, gtfo.

- Steal car
- Anger mother who could kick me out anytime
- Break & enter
- Leave proof of crime

naaah man

Okay, so!

I talked to my mom, and she would have tried to convince my father to return the laptop, but she's completely swamped with work. She said I could borrow her car to drive to my father's house and take it back myself, likely tomorrow evening. I'm pretty pumped and filled with determination. I'm not leaving empty-handed.

suspense!

If you ask me, i think you should have taken this whole situation as a sign that you spend too much time on the computer. It shouldn't get you that worked up if your computer is taken away from you. I can relate to that though, because i used to be like that before i realized how much of a hold it had over me

Actually, I even flat-out told my mom that she could hold onto it when I get it back if she wanted to. It's the fact that someone I despise can hold my most prized material possession over my head. All I really want is for this final tie to be severed.

I also need my computer to complete my portfolio that I need to apply for college, so there's that too.

Find a way to sneak into his house late at night, and steal the laptop!

Yeah, good luck with getting it back.

If he is messing with your lappy, He's violating the Fourth, because he's searching your crap, and even if he didn't, he seized it, Therefore Still violating the fourth. Not saying that you should press charges, but as to hold that over his head.

Keep bugging your Mom for it.

Also, was it taken away because of illegal activity?

My mom talked to my father the other day after I got serious about getting my laptop back. My father gave my laptop to my mom today during her lunch break at work. He downgraded my user account, made one for my mom, enabled parental controls (but didn't actually set any preferences), set my theme to Classic, and allegedly moved various files to a flash drive (though nothing seems to be missing).

My mom gave me the password and I'm gathering up the files I want to keep before reformatting. Fun night ahead!

Thanks for all the support and encouragement everyone.

So let's recap...
He takes your laptop and then downgrades you, sets filters, and then gives your mom an account?  What happened to it being 'your' laptop?

He's a twit. That's all there is to it.

What else did you think he was going to do after a reformat? Use it for nothing?

Anyways, it's a good thing that you got your laptop back, and kill your dad when you get the chance.

It sounds like you need a new video card. What's your budget?
I'm used to posting something like that in these sorts of topics :D
But yeah, your father is an ass

Your father is a richard.
