You need really thick skin to play this game. I only play the game when I'm in a good mood, otherwise it's just too stressful trying to ignore people.
Also, do you get more IP for playing ranked, or is the only difference just the addition of ELO (simply put).
Here are all the differences between ranked and normal draft:
- You can see your Elo.
- It is believed that all normal games share the same Elo, while different ranked queues have different Elo numbers - in ranked, your 3v3 is not the same as your 5v5 is not the same as your solo/duo 5v5.
- The average starfish quotient (AAQ) of a team is an order of magnitude higher in solo/duo ranked.
To sum up, the only reason to play ranked (if you're not trying to get invited to tournaments) is to have a higher e-peen score that you can brag about. People shallow enough to desperately want big e-peens while at the same time not pleasant enough to round up 4 AT partners go to solo/duo queue, so that's where you will find the absolute dregs of the community.
edit: first game of the day, my team has a leaver, second game, an enemy rage-idles on his platform... I'm wondering if I should bother going a third time just to try and maybe play an actual game lol
