Personally I think it was smart to get her ears pierced so young because she won't remember it, won't be tempted to.. y'know. modify. things. when she gets older. And plus it saves pain in the future because at that age she won't even remember how bad it felt. (Also, the thing you said about it's more obvious she's a girl and stuff.)
