i really hope basic equipment is available at the start in bf3, having to work to get defibs and the other support gear (which are critical for points in some classes) was loving stupid in bfbc2

For TF2 it does, but not for Battlefield. Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2 do not have rocket jumping, so I doubt BF3 will.
