Jets do nothing for the team
Best thing for a jet in rush is bailing out next to the mcom and arming it.

I disagree. If there are decent tank drivers in the opposite team, arming the mcom can be hard as forget. Use a jet to get rid of those pesky tanks.

most of the jet pilots i've seen only try to take out air vehicles and they don't do much.

Air targets are no. 1 priority. If you don't take out jets, they'll take out you. Priority list is as follows: jets, mobile AA guns, attack choppers, tanks/other ground vehicles.

I'm assuming that since you're saying this, you're upset about when the jets kill you
but as you know, killing people is a big part of playing the game and helping your team
