its more of a campaign +
as healing on campaign like old school duke or doom. stupid for a modern game.
you dont necessarily "heal" anyways. its a warning you are in danger, as players normally can react fast enough in that split second to hide anyways.
instant deaths and health packs would be incredibly lame in the single player game, they have to find that safe middle ground.
and by "health" they dont mean you have a health bar anyways. depending on the shot, weapon, distance, it can still be instant or more/less brutal a shot.
a weapon that would kill you in 2 shots you can hide from, then return in 5 seconds prepared to go head to head with that npc again.
you all seem to miss the point of these game mechanics.
