You forget that when you look at the game you look at the graphics first and foremost. Everything else follows suit.
they still do not matter at all ever as long as you can tell what everything is
the gameplay is what makes a game fun

no. an xbox 360 elite is much more capable at handling higher end games than say an xbox from when it was released. it's like comparing a macbook from 2005 to a macbook from today, same model but with better hardware.
Either you are handicapped, or trolling. All xbox 360's are based off the same exact hardware except for the hard drives, which really don't have an effect on performance. The only difference is that the new xbox 360 slims have their cpu/gpu made on a smaller chip so that it uses 1/2 the power of the original xbox 360.

Exactly.

I do not deny that the gameplay is important, but I for one find it incredibly hard to play a game I cannot immerse myself in. And we all know graphics are paramount for immersion.

that's dumbtarded
you can immerse yourself in games that don't have sooper reelistik graphics this is not a hard thing to do
step 1 stop being a graphics whore
step 2 there you are done

I am talking about immersion in a story, because the examples I have for my point would be, Amnesia, Penumbra.

those games are immersive because of overall design, great sound, and a sense of vulnerability that's always present. graphics only have to do with it in terms of the colour scheme

Colour scheme? I do not know what you are talking about but Penumbra and Amnesia would have gone nowhere without their Graphics Engine.

Downloading the beta for ps3 right now

minecraft has outsold both of those games combined

So you are saying, the graphics in minecraft suck.

So you are saying, the graphics in minecraft suck.
this is exactly what i am saying. however, that does not matter because it's fun as forget and the graphics won't keep me from playing it. i've honestly gotten more immersed in minecraft than penumbra

I do not know where you are coming from just because some game has pixel graphics does not mean it has bad graphics.

just because battlefield has a flat wall does not mean it has bad graphics

Aesthetics.  That's why minecraft still looks nice.
