So I got bored and thought that I would share some of my opinions about religion.

Before I start, I want to let you know that I'm an atheist. If thats all you wanted to know, thats fine, but next im going to tell you why.

#1: Churches. Churches are the #1 thing that have ruined religion for me. This is mainly because its boring! Like seriously, why do I have to spend 2 hours sitting in an uncomfortable chair listening to blabber. All they ever talk about is "God is good", but never give us a reason why.

#2: Praying. Seriously, probably the most annoying thing christians do. I mean, in my opinion all praying is is just talking to yourself and expecting an answer, which never comes.

#3: "Blessing food". I guess this could go along with praying, but I feel it deserves another number. Like seriously, nothings worse than going out to eat and getting a huge juicy steak, only to have to bow your head and hold hands while smelling the damned thing. I mean, seriously, when Im hungry I wanna eat my stuff.

#4: Creation of our world. This is another thing that gets on my nerves. Sometimes when my dad gets in an argument with an atheist about god, all I hear is "Oh yeah? Then how was our world formed?" Seriously, i dont give a stuff how our world was formed, and where we go when we die. All i care about is that im here now.

#5: Knowing that Im not in control of my future. Sometimes in church my pastor says things like "God has a plan, and you're part of it! Before god even created the Heavens and the Earth, he knew what your life was going to be like!" Quite frankly, I like being in control, and not knowing that my life is to go a certain way.

#6: God loves everyone. Now this is complete bullstuff. Its impossible to love everyone. I mean, how can god look down on the world, seeing Flash Mobers,  and still love them? Lives lost, families ruined, fatherless/motherless children, people scared forever.

#7: Its impossible for god to exist. I find it hard to believe god exists, i mean, it is literally impossible for someone to be alive sense the beginning of time. I mean, it hurts my head even thinking about it. Something or someone had to create him, and then something/someone had to created. Ill just leave it at that, because its hard to word.

#8 We must live our lives for god. Now this just pisses me off. Christians say all the time "We must live our lives for god! He sent his son to die for us!" I find it bullstuff. Why would god create us, only for us to worship him forever?

Well, thats all I can think of atm. Maybe later ill edit this post to add more reasons.

Indeed, this is half the reason I'm atheist. God seems to love everyone, and yet he hates the gays... and any victim of any disaster ever...

He has a plan? Why did he make me sick the other day? Why wouldd he make atheists? - or rather, why would he make anyone who doesn't believe in him? It's a threadbare concept, but it keeps people going, I suppose. It's lasted so long because it can neither be definitely proven or disproven.

I feel any counter argument I give towards any of those points will do nothing but cause you to say something along the lines of "you just think that because you are christian you think you can dismiss any of my arguments with the fact that I don't understand" and think it is a sufficient retort, but in the same way I am actually saying exactly that for the genuine reason that while you have listed severall compelling arguments, you seem to have all the wrong reasons for supporting them.
The anti church thing because it is boring is a bullstuff response. If you were to be against church it should be because of your belief that it is harmful in some ways. Sure it may be boring to a prebubescent punk like yourself, but some people find real meaning and have their lives better by attending church.

Same for praying. Are you that against yoga and such things as well because you dont feel the spiritual alignment some people claim it has? THis is not an acusatory statement, this is actually a question. I am checking to see if you are just against christianity cause you think its cool or if its actually something you really have an opinion about.

Adding this now.
Was hard to word.

If you built a stuffton of robots would you want them to do stuff for you?
Come on, bring up some good arguments please.

No, I actually wont dismiss your responses, I actually welcome it. It would be  nice to hear a religious persons rebuttal to my remarks.

Robots have no minds, and its kind of upsetting that you are comparing us to robots.

This thread expresses my feeling towards Christianity. Except I was atheist from the start.

I'd like to say I agree that Church is a snooze fest, but personally I find praying as a form of meditation to be calming.

EDIT: I am not anti-Mass/Church, however. I know some who thoroughly enjoy it.

EDIT 2: Assuming that Christianity is mostly true, God can exist. Assuming it's not, he can't. It's one of those things that can only be proven by something that can't be proven.

EDIT 3: Why are you talking only about Christianity? Islam is fairly similar in beliefs.

if you didn't know, you can choose your religion.

if you didn't know, you can choose your religion.
Im confused by what you mean.

Im confused by what you mean.

you're not forced to believe in anything, you can believe whatever you want.

you're not forced to believe in anything, you can believe whatever you want.
Never said I was.
I was just posting what I believe in and why.

I could care less if your atheist, and this topic is pointless. But lemme point some things out.

Church is not just sitting, you know. You can choose to go to different groups. I go to youth groups most of the time where half of my friends are there and my pastor is awesome. But this all depends on what your religion is.

oh. i misinterpreted that. anyway, i don't give a half a stuff, nevermind one whole stuff, if you're atheist. just respect people's opinions and don't go saying "LOL UR AN IDOT GOD IS NOT REAL HURRlovingDURR".
