Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 139224 times)

Man I can't believe this thread is still going :o

I haven't even touched DF in awhile.

Still reading stories of it tho

Can someone explain how this once hostile person has gone friendly?
Is it because he killed a dwarf? I sent a guy down to see what would happen and he died
For some reason, if an animal man strikes down a forgotten beast they turn friendly to the dwarves (but still friendly with the other tribespeople). Pretty sure it's just forgotten beasts, anyway.

Dwarf Fortress will never die... Unless a bronze colossus stumbles upon your fort.

That just makes it come back and fight the colossus :D

Managing to keep a nice fortress going without intrusion from beasts (actually I'm avoiding the cavern layer until my military is prepared and I finally finish fortifications up top.

Successfully averted a goblin invasion using my very long and very hard-earned bridge covered in weapon traps. It's over a 19-deep pit onto spear traps (in case they somehow live), and I lost 3 miners building that. Luckily my level 20 and level 19 miners are just staying out of the way of all danger and are currently attending the 4th party this season in the dining hall.

Bump.

If you haven't gone through the dev logs in a while, you should.

Like, right now.

Now.

Many interesting things are a'brewin'

More like the cycle of impatient autists.

My brother was trying to make a waterfall, but he failed and ended up flooding his entire fortress.

Huh, that's inter- wait what, that's my fort, and that's this year! I must check the lake/moat.

What the hell? This is probably one of my favorite moments I've ever had in DF. This was out of pure chance, too. I raised the bridge when zombies (or a kobold ambush) came and that thief was blown into the water and drowned, saving an artifact. The artifact, btw:

You lucky bastard!

By the way, does anyone have some tips on getting a sustainable food/booze supply and general fortress design and defense? I haven't played in a while and I feel like I'll die horribly fast.
