Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 133975 times)

Too bad we can't attach negative thoughts to interactions. I'd love to make an alpaca + llama interaction that makes them spit on dwarves for a negative thought.

So let's see, so far this update will give us:

Moving entities, including armies making camps while wandering the map and bandits you can track and mercilessly slaughter, the survivors tracking YOU down and seeking vengeance, proper tracking (of course), proper sneaking with multiple speed settings, non-lethal combat, towns showing signs of being pillaged like skewered bodies, proper and unique sites for all the races, customized opening messages instead of the generic block of text at the start of adventure mode, some creatures are able to sense blood or creature classes, a combat/movement split, and better reaction moves (catching an incoming fist and turning it into a wrist lock). This'll be fun.

Will we be able to ripe/break off the wrist?
Also did you post this at school?

That is AWESOME. I can not wait.

Speaking of this, has anyone ever witnessed a straight up battle? Like, a battle in a war that involves 300+ units from each side? I ask because there's only been one battle on my world and I am wondering if it would be possible to somehow see the next battle in the war.

My armorer just went berserk from a fey mood in the middle of a dining hall. Let's just say a full squad of puncherdwarfs can kill pretty fast.

You could probably break his wrist to make him drop the weapon, or slash it off if you have a sword in your free hand. Also, no, I left because of a dentist appointment and posted that when I got home.

Do you mean in worldgen in the current version or what? I imagine that you could witness the battles firsthand when history continues if you happen to be at the right place at the right time, but you never know.

So uh guys

Oh I though you posted on your phone. I came home early because I puked all over the Lunchrooms bathroom's toilet. And then again in the nurses office.

i might adopt professional puncher dwarfs as my army's main soldiers.

I've been having fun trashing the same town over and over again as a necromancer. At this point it isn't rare for me to walk into an unexplored pasture and find a pile of livestock bodies in the center surrounded by loitering zombies. I like animated heads, they slowly roll towards their prey then latch on all over like chattering gag teeth of death.

In other words, I was strolling by a dog getting covered in zombie turkeys and humans and opened the back door to an abandoned house to find a beakless turkey trying to murder me. Strange stuff.

the game is stuffting me right now

i've got a really kickass embark site but i can't figure out how to design a safe base that still has wagon access now that traps and pressure plates block them
heeellllpppp

Figured it out

invaders will opt for the shorter straight path, wagons will always go the longer path because it's the only path available. i'll probably use much longer bridges because i like retracting them and watching invaders fall 30+ levels

it doesn't really stop the wagons getting attacked on their way, but oh well

Can someone explain how this once hostile person has gone friendly?
Is it because he killed a dwarf? I sent a guy down to see what would happen and he died
