Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 138242 times)

I was going to post the log of another Kobold battle I fought. From the looks of it there was only like 10 kobolds, but the log goes over the character limit.

EDIT: Here's a funny one.
Quote from: log
You grab The master by the throat with your right upper arm!
You place a chokehold on The master's throat with Your right upper arm!
You strangle The master's throat!
The master passes out.
You bite The master in the head, bruising the muscle through the rope reed fiber cap!
You latch on firmly!
You shake The master around by the head, tearing apart the head's muscle!
An artery in the head has been opened by the attack!
You shake The master around by the head, tearing apart the head's muscle!
An artery in the head has been opened by the attack!
You shake The master around by the head, tearing apart the head's muscle!
An artery in the head has been opened by the attack!
You strike The master in the head with your iron shield, bruising the muscle, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing the brain!
Ricdil Ishagorpu, Swordsman has been struck down.
It says I bit him in the head, but I actually chose neck.

Moral of the story: Put people necks in a chokehold using wrestle. Then you can gain experience in weird things.

Jesus christ imagine if you could actually SEE all of that!

I would be too freaked out to play the game.

You know, it tells you how to do stuff if you go to the help section
Well where's the stupid help section.

Well where's the stupid help section.
It has all the controls right there. Does it really need explaining?

Found it.
I often find myself wondering where I can find some civilization.
It's so boring just walking. I assume that thing on the top-left corner tells me where to go (e.g NW with a building icon) but even if I go where it says I often walk for too long and give up.

Who wants to watch me livestream this game?

I don't know how to build a fortress. I only know how to gather plants and cut trees, but I'm not even sure if my dwarves or whatever are harvesting. It looks like they are all just sitting in one spot walking around.

Make sure you assign the job, then you will see your dwarves moving to do the job. Also make sure you set their professions before the game.

I once played as a steel dwarf adventurer, I was nigh invincible. I ran around basically mowing down anything in my way, I had a copper sword with some 300 kills before I trashed it and got a steel one which racked up another 200. I eventually succumbed to a hail of arrows and bolts from a massive bandit group, but of course I took them out and killed some archers by throwing them back before I died. I had a forgeted up leg and was walking on a crutch at the time so I killed most things by throwing rocks at them.

Early into one game I found lava, and decided to try and redirect it in order to use it to power forges. Well, most of my dwarves had been working on the area, and the one redirecting the lava must have broke a hole in the pit and the level started flooding. I wasn't paying attention to them at this point as I was looking around on the service for other resources. When I checked back the entire room was flooded and only one dwarve remained, escaping to the surface. One of my lumberjacks went mad from grief, and killed the 2 other remaining dwarves.

My reason for loving Dwarf Fortress is because when I was younger, I used to play Rock Raiders all the time.

This game is like extreme rock raiders!

Found it.

Quick travel. Like shift T or something.
