Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 135266 times)

I found this mod that lets you co-op fortresses with others.

What's the best way to move a dwarf into a holding cell owo
EDIT:
Nevermind my insane weaponsmith just died of thirst
EDIT2:

Just send the military in to kill them.

I don't think you can attack insane dwarves unless they're berserk, since berserk people become enemies of your civilization.

Right, just wait till the go berserk.

Right, just wait till the go berserk.
Dwarves who are already insane won't go berserk. Berserk is a brand of insanity.

My dwarves go insane, or enter a strange mood, then go berserk.

That's impossible. A dwarf goes berserk as a form of insanity, when a dwarf goes insane they can't do it again because it always results in death. A strange mood causes insanity when failed.

I downloaded the game, started playing it, and everything seemed reasonably straight forward. Then I got into the actual game environment.

Sorry but i gotta call bullstuff.
This would pretty much break everything.

That line isn't steep enough.

Lol.

Nah, dwarves CAN go from "Strange Mood" to "Berserk", although the more common is immediately going to a life ending state rather than going "Miserable" only first.

-----

The only time I've really had an issue with an insane dwarf was:

- Dwarf goes "Strange Mood" status
- Dwarf takes over metalworker's workshop
- Dwarf begins making Serpentine Anvils (I had to dig a long way for that stuff D:)
- Dwarf takes anvils and places them all in the great hall
- Dwarf cracks his/her skull somehow and the body is hidden under hordes of loitering dwarves and animals - I didn't know it was there until:
- Miasma makes dwarves unhappy
- 20+ Dwaves go insane and jump off a bridge taking all the children with them

Later on a goblin raid killed everyone else.

This story is why I think I'm gonna just gonna keep my insane dwarf in his room unless I absolutely need him to take charge of the dwarves~

I've set up an asylum for my sane dwarves to watch the insane dwarves go crazy. It seems to have turned into their pastime. Every since I've done that, no more dwarves went insane.

Although until the current insane dwarves die, I can't get food or beds in there.
