Good luck learning! This game actually isn't too hard when you know it, it just has an impenetrable interface and is incredibly complex. When you master this game, the world is your bitch and you can learn anything.

Just be smart and only play adventure, Like me.

The farthest that I can usually make it is the first siege...then my rag tag military gets slaughtered and the the rest of the fortress dies. :P

I started a new adventure last night. Died before I even found a quest enemy. Everything was far away and then some bogeymen attacked me when I was inside a hamlet. I could find any houses.

I played a couple more adventures the other day. One where the first enemy killed me instantly. Another time I did a couple quests and was doing well, and then I ran into a bandit camp where I was well outnumbered and died. In my last game I got annoyed because the nearest castle didn't have any soldiers to recruit, so I just started killing villagers. I was wrecking them until one managed to get a dagger in me by a stroke of luck, I died the next turn.

After quite a few games of trying my new strategy (vampire hunting and then becoming a vampire), I finally made it. I now have many companions and have never even been injured in battle. My strength will only grow and soon I will be the most powerful creature to ever live.

How do you get turned into a vampire? Just by having one fight you?

Drinking a vampire's blood. This is usually easy enough as stabbing one and licking the blood off your sword.

Being a vampire is wonderful. You don't need to eat, drink (normal fluids, anyway), or sleep, and zombies totally ignore you. If you wanted, you could stroll through an entire necromancer's tower unmolested and stab the necromancer in the face. When you become a vampire, some of your physical stats are doubled. On top of that, you don't feel pain, don't suffer exertion, don't need to breathe... You're effectively a living god of combat.

There's a couple issues, though. Vampires need to drink blood from living, unconscious opponents, which can be hard to come by without turning an entire civilization against you when they wake up. After your physical stats double, they also lock so you can't improve them further. Even with these problems, being a vampire is awesome.

Drinking the blood of your enemies won't make your pals angry, so as long as you fight a lot you should be good. And your stats are normally capped at double your initial value, so by becoming a vampire you will only end up greater than or equal to your max potential, although ideally you would become a vampire after you already max everything.

Also, I had to kill 3 separate vampires and had to drink every last drop before I become one too. I also had minimum disease resistance.

Drinking only once makes you become a vampire, but the game never gives you confirmation and you can only be sure when the red "thirsty" text shows up saying you need blood.

I know. But I kept getting regular hungry, thirsty, and tired until that final drop and then the hunger status disappeared.

any guesses as to how long before the update comes out?

A month to a few months, At least that's what it seems like to me but then again I hardly play the game.

hope it comes out sooner than later

i don't want to get too invested in making a new fortress, because i usually play the same one for a few months
