If you're wondering why it's not something more modern, it's just a name in gameplay terms. It really doesn't matter.  They could slap on AK-101 or something and it wouldn't make a difference. Yet again, they want fun more than realistic (i don't know how this counts though)

he's too much of a fanboy to admit quickscoping is stupid and MW3 will feature it just as much as MW2 did.

And Messes, Thats not a quickscope, a quickscope is where you CANT see the scope, only the outside model of it. If you can see the crosshair of the scope its a Hard-scope

I'm pretty sure that having the inside of your scope see-able for at least 2 seconds is a hardscope.

Besides, it's not called hard-scoping, it's called sniping.

No, if you see the model of the scope, its a blackscope err umm, whitescope. A quickscope is when you scope in for under one second.
