Author Topic: You CANNOT hack Blockland  (Read 10056 times)

You can edit the SavedVariables text file in your client data folder :D Ima H4x0r.

Anyway,

you CAN you cheatengine or equivalent to change some numerical instances (health to 100 for example), but this only really works on slate on single player because there's too many other entries if on a map with other data or other players running around. Even on single there's so much data that by the time you filter it all to one instance it's just gone and changed.

In short, possible but very very very tedious.
Anything that would be useful to hack this way is stored server-side. You could only change it if you were the host or singleplayer, in which case you might as well just change it through scripts,

It depends on what you consider hacking.

Would you consider my upcoming Sky Eye mod to be hacking?
The server already provides the client with all the positions of all the clients in the server, all this does is display that information.

I recently had a discussion with someone who was adamant that BuildBot was hacking because "BuildBot loads the bricks.  It doesn't matter how the bricks got there if I don't want the save on my server." (Clearned up grammar as a courtesy)

I then asked that person if they considered building to be loading.
They answer no.
I then asked that person if they considered memorizing something they build and recalling it to be loading.
They answer yes.

It is really all a matter of perspective.  If someone wants to call a chatbot, or aimbot, or macros hacking, no matter how dead wrong they are, they might percieve it that way.

No one cares about that kind of 'hacking' because all of this is possible through scripts in the first place.

It's not hacking regardless. It's just a macro.

It's not a matter of perspective. We're speaking facts here so it doesn't matter how a clueless user perceives it.

how do you get a bunch of nerds to agree on the definition of hacking

you don't  :cookieMonster:

I smell a ban with the space spam.

It is perspective.  Once you start doing stuff that you aren't supposed to do, there really is a furry (lol) line between, oh, let's say abusing a glitch and hacking.

I was using the discussion I had about loading vs buildbot as an example of how things that are actually defined rigidly by code can still be percieved differently by people, and without those people necessarily being wrong.

Hacking is doing something you're not supposed to be able to do using third party programs or 'instructions'.

We are given the option to:
-Script, using torquescript, to make add-ons which will run when the game starts up, or when the server starts up
-Send commands to the server using said scripts.

Every form of 'hacking' that has been done so far was either just phishing for e-mail information, or using scripts. Sure people have done things they weren't supposed to be doing, but that doesn't mean it was hacking.

How wrong you are...
1. Who cares if someone goes "You hacker" if you know you didn't hack, why should you care?
2. I've seen someone hack a server before, it made every single player on it hear the sound when a zombie game starts. When he got kicked from the server it stopped so don't bother going "It was probally a glitch."
3. Why would you post this who wants to see someone talking about how people "cant" hack

Truce has hacked it before, I forget exactly how. There was a huge conversation about it on the RTB forum before Ephi removed it. Other than that, you can not hack Blockland.
No, everyone in that thread was obviously the dumbasses that this thread is targeting. Truce doesn't 'hack' Blockland, he just uses exploits to scare the stuff out of people. Although, I can only remember two occasions where he did anything script kiddieish.. and both of those times were because of eval.

I always thought you were dumb ingame.
The fact you just bumped a topic over a month and a half makes me feel right in doing so.

on activate - minigame - play sound - beepkey

On my uneducated opinion I would say you can hack it but the real question is why would you want to? God mode in TDMs? So you just spent who knows how many hours to create a hack that gives you infinite health on this server on this session? To do what? Go on a killing spree in a lego game only to be permanently banned from the server a few minutes later for obvious cheating? Hoorray..

i just hacked all your forum accounts.
and after reading many private messages, i decided to commit Self Delete out of boredom.
