You could try a zombie master type of thing (I dunno how well bots could work, human players might work as easily.)

1 person is a zombie master and can activate certain spawns, traps, bricks, etc and the other team has to survive a certain amount of waves, reach the end, or last man standing.

Maybe the zombie master can choose spawns that only human zombies can spawn on?

That can be easily done with events, so long as director is able to be turned off, if made.

Will the addon have standard campaign-type gameplay with a director?

Will there be a safe room brick to end a game?

What types of zombies are to be expected?
The first release of the zombie gamemode will probably be bare bones and then I will update it with more content/suggestions.

I was planning for only basic zombies to exist, normal, slow, fast and strong (like the l4d tank)

I was thinking of not having a director because of how much people complain about it in both zombie mode, so if you wanted a campaign you would use events or something.

I'll probably just make an event to end it, have it act sort of like the saferoom

PLEASEEEEE make a zombie mod for slayer, oh god yes..

That would make my dreams come true.

Like a classic zombie gamemode where you can select how fast they run.

And no special ones like l4d.

An official bot mod for slayer would be super ultra kick ass.

I was thinking of not having a director because of how much people complain about it in both zombie mode, so if you wanted a campaign you would use events or something. Pretty tough to event a whole campaign just to have zombies spawn within a certain range. When I mean director, I mean a function to despawn all bots outside of a certain raidus like ZAPT. Maybe even a "random Zombie" vehicle/brick which randomly picks a zombie for you.

I will add in a basic director? So all it would do is spawn predefined zombies from their spawn brick. There will be a special spawn brick that when wrenched you can choose a type of zombie.
I might include breaking limbs, say for example you shoot their legs off they will crawl to you, and headshot would do more damage.

Please, for the love of zombies, make sure the director only works on these special bricks so that normal vehicles stay at normal vehicle spawn bricks. :)

Also, when you leave the special zombie spawner without a zombie selected, the director is allowed to choose himself? :P
Just an idea.

The limb breaking thing sounds cool.
But more damage on headshot... Most headshot weapons already have a headshot modifier themselves. :P
Maybe something more in the way of Killing Floor: Zombies won't be able to follow you anymore and just limb around a bit untill they die, slashing at anything they touch.
Also if they have any special ability, they can't use it while their head is missing out on all this fun.

However, just them not being able to follow you anymore would be fine i guess. :P

I actually was thinking of this a little time ago.

Trying to think how that would work.. It would have to be easy to use.
