ice form, you automatically get fire breath later in the main quest

But besides that reason dragon souls aren't very hard to come by and ice form is the cooler of the two.

Ice Form. Quick escape tool and stuns them.

Skyrim is a lot more free. You don't even have to progress the main storyline at all if you don't want to(but you should, of course).

My current character doesn't even know he's the dragonborn. :D

I had probably the most fun on my character who ran straight to riften once he escaped the helgen attack.
I joined up with the thieves guild and explored the world through them. It was a lot more fun than being Dragonborn.

also, I found some sweetass Dwarven Armor today, and found a place to buy the helmet and another for the war axe, since I'm into two-handed weapons now
now all I'm missing is the Dwarven bow, helmet, and weapons :D

also where does Lydia go when you do a quest that requires her to be temporarily replaced?
this guy I won a fist fight against is my follower right now and he's a lot more stupid than Lydia
