Yeah.
I think there is a certain point where it can't really go faster, where the DVD reaches its limitation.

That's why I burn images to flash drives.  Much faster unless you have a SATA II DVD drive like most people (myself included) too.

Uh, what were you updating?
Really the only main way to fry it while updating would be while flashing the BIOS. But this comes with serious warnings not to turn it off.

And, you can't replace a chipset, unfortunately. You could fork out for a new motherboard if it really is fried, but due to form factor and space it will cost lots.

Just recently updated CCC and other associated drivers and bam new patch comes out a day later.

I never trust my AMD graphics cards when it comes to updating.

When you download a BIOS it tells you NEVER to turn it off in the middle of a BIOS flash. It tells you not to even do it unless you have a power backup in case of a blackout even. forget

You're forgeted unless you can get the update/firmware on a USB device (most motherboards have a feature that installs it for you, unsure of one that doesn't.)
