No seriously gogdammit.

How many fans are necessary?

highly dependent on your setup and case.

and im too lazy to look back in the thread to find your setup. not my area of expertise either but i could get the general idea :3

On a gaming build, at least 1 on the front to suck cool air in, and one on the back to push hot air out.

I'll get three. These motherforgeters are cheap.

*EDIT*
Is this case a good choice?

Your case should come with at least one, but usually they are quite loud and low quality.
3 is a good number.

Yay I'm smart.

Also, an after-market cooling system isn't really required for my setup, since I'm not going to overclock anything? I was just going to use the factory heatsink for the CPU.

That should be ample.
If you ever want to make it quieter or cooler, consider a 6 or 8 heatpipe air cooler or a radiator water cooler.

Ok.

Also, how can I be sure that my components will fit in the case, and that they're all compatible?

They are all compatible.
The case is the right form factor and is large enough to house the components.

Now all that is left is to just take my chances and buy everything.

well made diagram 10/10 i can build computer w/ that

Holy stuff. That diagram matches entirely my computer interior right now. Eski your a psychic.

Another concern is the fact that I got this computer like a year and a half ago. Should I be worried about anything dying or otherwise needing replacement?
