It's worth it as there's more space for ventilation and air flow, although a mid-tower would be a better bang for your buck, a full tower is really good, lots of space for any future upgrades, and adequate room for airflow and ventilation. Did you get the Phantom?
I did, but it seems like it will look like a giant fat whale, jammed in the enclave under the desk. :c

Although I could place it behind the monitor... I'M SO INDECISIVE AAAAAAAA

Hey ethan, would I be better off getting another gts 450 and going sli, or getting one of these to replace my one.

just got my new rig.

i7 2600k @ ~3.7GHz (using turbo boost)
GTX580

it tears the stuff out of any game I've thrown at it so far on Ultra.

That's a lot of changes 0_0 Would the system I configured still work well? Mainly because I want fast application tasking and very good graphic renders and framerates.
The one I posted is considerably faster, and the money is better distributed, as well as the lovey color scheme.

That's a hard one.
They are both about equal, however I'm going to say that the single 6870 is a better well rounded choice, less SLI problems, more updatability, less heat and less power.

I feel you.
I did that with my dads expensive PC and never played a single installed game such as: Some FPS i installed, minecraft, oblivion, stuffload of other good games. And all i played that day was flash games.

My things arrived today and I discovered the PSU is slightly longer and doesn't fit due to the length of the blu-ray drive, and for some insane reason that drive is locked in from somewhere invisible. I ended up putting the old parts back in place. It's not all bad, though, the tower is now pretty free of dust and I'm much more confident in my ability to piece things together to form a functioning thing. The tentative plan now is to buy the remainder of the parts to build my own computer (we eventually needed another computer from the start).

Parts I've already purchased:

GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130660
PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016

Parts I'm considering:

Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271
(This is the most trouble for me. Besides LGA 1155, I'm not exactly sure what to look for.)
CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072
Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196
RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm, not linking one specifically because they keep going out of stock
SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220602
(because of this)

You pretty clearly don't understand how air works. I'll give you a few minutes to figure out by yourself.

Definitely drop the SSD. Totally not worth it. I would recommend getting the i5-2300. You'll get the same performance out of it and save a ton of money at the same time.

Go play Crysis or BF3.  You'll love it.

Unless you don't like Crysis or BF3.

no money right now, probably going to get BF3 if I can get over the fact that it uses Origin ..

for now I have Fallout 3, which looks pretty lovey on ultra settings lol

never RAID your hard disks if you know you won't mess up

i learned the hard way, things happened (instant format), thank god it was on the computer of experimenting possibly-dangerous experiments on
