I've decided against lenovo because I couldn't seem to find any with a 17.3" screen.
Ah, ok.  Personally I think 15.6" is ideal, I dislike 17" it's too big for me.

Yeah, I like 17 because it's wider and usually provides for a number pad.

So, here's the specs I've decided on for HP:

Oh, well then, little update. HP is offering that student XBOX thing, and unknowingly the laptop I picked is eligible. Thank you so much Doomonkey for turning me away from Toshiba.

guys

i have an ati radeon 6750 hd gpu

when i try to overclock it by any amount, the drivers keep crashing

any ideas?

remember that guy who said he wanted a SSD for his laptop because apparently a harddrive wont work in his conditions?

well, i can officially call bullstuff.

i was using my laptop in a car under VERY bumpy conditions.
it may as well be in bumpsville, but when i used it, the HDD slowed down to survive these conditions.

garrys mod took like 2 minutes to start up, unlike when i used it on the battery when i started it up in a non bumpy place.
SSDs would be the same speed as in a non bumpy place for obvious reasons, but browsing files and coding with the exception of compiling worked nearly instantly so i dont know why he said that.
music was an instant to start up.

using my laptop through the entire 4 hours battery life and im typing this out now.
whoever said that is talking major bullstuff.

i dont even know how long ago it was either so i cant find the post.

What are you using to overclock it? Download MSI afterburner and try in there. But do be careful, like, go up by 25mhz, then go test it, and make sure it's all good and the temperatures are fine, then go put it up by another 25mhz and test again. Don't push it too far.

Yeah, but why risk having data corrupted by an HDD, when an SSD will work super fast in those conditions and there's really no risk of any of the moving parts collapsing or anything?

What do you guys think of my new computer?

I spent mowed many lawns for it, was it worth £550?

Dunno if it's written there but the hard drive is 2TB

yeah but the GPU is horrid

and you have 3TB of space

GPU is okayish. I think that you could play most games.

well it's fine for a ~$600 computer but i'd upgrade that first

Where does it say that?

Where does it say that?
I was questioning this too, where on earth does a dxdiag display volumes and their total capacity?

Where does it say that?
I am going to go ahead and assume he read 30167 MB of memory available as 3167 GB of hard drive storage.

Not to sound handicapped, but, Is it possible to make a "portable" cpu? like the moniter and the cpu are combined

Some what like the macintosh  classic:
