Definitely drop the SSD. Totally not worth it. I would recommend getting the i5-2300. You'll get the same performance out of it and save a ton of money at the same time.
I have to disagree with the SSD statement.
It's quite amazing what they have done with SSD, and it's great to have that extra speed. Also it's only $100.
Although $100 may be a lot to Eksi and he can choose whatever he wants.

My things arrived today and I discovered the PSU is slightly longer and doesn't fit due to the length of the blu-ray drive, and for some insane reason that drive is locked in from somewhere invisible. I ended up putting the old parts back in place. It's not all bad, though, the tower is now pretty free of dust and I'm much more confident in my ability to piece things together to form a functioning thing. The tentative plan now is to buy the remainder of the parts to build my own computer (we eventually needed another computer from the start).

Parts I've already purchased:

GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130660
PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016

Parts I'm considering:

Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271
(This is the most trouble for me. Besides LGA 1155, I'm not exactly sure what to look for.)
CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072
Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196
RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm, not linking one specifically because they keep going out of stock
SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220602
(because of this)

thoughts?
Pretty solid build, all parts are compatible.
I hope the HDD is the SpinPoint.

is the cooler master HAF 912 any good?

is the cooler master HAF 912 any good?

I have the 922 which is 1 model higher and I'm loving it. It's only a mid-tower compared to the 922 which is a full tower, so get whichever depending on what you need/prefer.

I have the 922 which is 1 model higher and I'm loving it. It's really big so if you don't need a full tower don't bother.
i'll buy it sometime in the future then

Should i reformat my laptop and install fedora?

The laptops issues is:
It's getting slower every day, slowly though.
Hard drive is filled with lots of forget. (6GB left)
Windows is unbootable.
System recovery is forgeted. So no recovering windows unless that HP recovery CD works.
Ubuntu (The only OS left on the laptop) is slowly breaking. If my laptop doesn't get slow as forget first, ubuntu will break.
Could someone answer my question?

Do you know how when you right click and a menu comes up?

Yeah. That happens to me alot when I dont do anything. Say Im browsing the forums. I click on something and move my mouse around. Then all of a sudden, the menu pops up. And if I move the mouse around still, the menu follows. No my computer isnt infected. WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF THIS MADNESS.
That, and sometimes when I hover around a clickable button, when I click, nothing happens. Not even the cursor changes.

Nvm, found the problem.

is the cooler master HAF 912 any good?
Yes. Pretty much all Cooler Master cases are great for their price.

Full towers are pretty much useless unless you need a full size Liquid radiator cooling block or something.

Ok, my brother has his budget raised to about $400, and he has a CrossFire system in his cart, I just wanted to know if the parts will work together, but be good enough for CrossFire, and still be enough to unlock the 2 extra cores on the CPU. He's still got the salvaged HDD, Case, and DVD drive. He knows the PSU probably isn't going to be enough and he wants some help with it.

LOGISYS Computer PS575XBK 575W
2 x XFX HD-485X-ZNFC Radeon HD 4850
Foxconn A7DA-S 3.0 AM3 AMD 790GX
Wintec AMPX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3
HIS CrossFire Bridge
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz

Current Subtotal: $223.45
Current Grand Total: $393.03 (damn HST)

Well.
The PSU will not be enough. Not only is the wattage questionable, the brand and quality is stuff so it won't ever produce close to that 575w.
Also I don't suggest crossfiring 2 low end cards.
Also since it's a low end motherboard, I can't see it having the tool to unlock your cores.

Whilst that 4850 is a great deal at $50, it draws a lot of power, and is old so doesn't support DX11. I'd suggest saving on the bridge and 2 cards and getting this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161387

However I'm not sure if you can get that, and a better PSU to go with it with your budget. That PSU should be enough for now. You'll probably have to live without the extra 2 cores with that budget unless you can find a similarly priced motherboard that has that feature.

I see reviews on the MB that say they unlocked cores with it, and he says he can live with DX 10.1, he just wants a lot of power at a low cost.
I'll take your word over his though, I'll see how much the total is.

cool, the card is apparently $20 more on newegg.ca
goddamn it I hate HST and everything that comes with it

Disregard, the total with the same PSU and that video card comes to $398.60. I'll go look for a better PSU. Can't really get a better power supply without going over the budget. Damn.

Like I said, that PSU isn't ideal but should be adequate for that card.
That card would only really need a 450w but Logisys are low quality.

Can I ask about a problem I'm having with my graphics card options here?
