As I can see from the photo, you have one lane below it free. That's good.
However, that looks like a micro ATX board.
To be sure you have enough room, could you measure the distance parallel to the PCI-E lane, from the rear of the case to the front of the case?

From the back to the front in parallel to the PCI Lane: 16.5 Inches.
The wire was actually blocking what I thought was the PCI lane (Light blue) which of course was wrong. So I've got some new measurements for that to.

From the back of the case to one of the hard drives: 10 Inches.
I now have 10 Inches of space for the GPU :)

I'm referring to the mobility, and the fact that the parts that he can fit in the case he wants are not going to be any better than what he would get in a laptop.

I believe in a post, I told you to tell me the wattage and model of your PSU so I can determine whether or not you need to upgrade it.

Oh, the PSU is the power supply?
The brand is Akasa and it is 600w.

My CPU is AMD Phenom II (3.1 GHz).

The new sandy bridge processors are great, my laptop has i3 sandy with intel 3000 graphics and it plays mw2 at 50fps on medium graphics and the same for borderlands on almost maxed out graphics and both on it's native resolution.

So I am getting (possibly) my aunt's old Toshiba laptop.  I just wanted to know if it's even really good for blockland and the first thing I would do is downgrade it from vista to Xp 32bit professional edition.

I found this through only the ram and processor information.  It is completely free for me to have my aunt just has to talk to my uncle about giving it to me then she will take her files and stuff off it then I will most likely reformat its entire HDD for my own use.

Overclocking my CPU to 3.6GHz, what am I supposed to expect from an unstable overclock? Should it just be hard shutting off with no warning and restarting?

EDIT: I've been running this stability test for the past 20 minutes and it hasn't died out yet so I guess it's somewhat stable.
CPU never seems to go past 55c so that's pretty good, right?

Run Prime95 torture test for 24 hours to make sure it's completely stable.
Temperature is your main problem. I'd definitely keep it under 65C, depending on the chip you have.

Video card sucks but the rest isn't too bad. Would play basic games, maybe Blockland on a small build.

that has a intel 950 card, right? I can play CS:S at 25 fps on that. :o
It's with a config, highest settings, no AA or anything like that, but it's playable IMO.
