What is the highest ati graphics card that doesn't need power from the power supply?
4670 or 6550 I believe.

I just maxed out Skyrim on Ultra.
Something else must be wrong with your system.
SLI/CF have problems.

I notice it too often with my setup. Quite often I get better performance if I turn one of my 6990s off.

So uuhm, I'm getting this weird fps issue. It kinda jitters a lot and I don't think It's not steady enough to be from my GPU. I think my hard-drive is a major bottleneck.

I need a new HDD, don't I? :c

Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition @ 3.6GHz
Radeon HD 6950 2GB
8GB DDR2 RAM (I got this Phenom as soon as it came out, when it was still AM2+)
111GB SATA HDD
Can a slower hard-drive cause performance issues like that?

The experience indicator numbers are not a reliable form of determining the actual capability of a computer, they just act as a very loose guide.

Numbers below 6 for primary hard disk is common with standard hard disk drives, aka spinning magnetic platters.  Your HDD is fine, it would not cause problems.

Jitters in your framerate could be your framerate just hovering between 40-55 FPS.  Lower your settings and enable VSync, I play almost none of my games without Vsync.

Does the 6770 require power from the power supply?  They don't look like they do.

It probably does.

It does, but not much, you could get a 300W PSU with a system with that card.

A really high quality Corsair PSU or something though. Not OEM.

My parents got me a Macbook Pro 1 year ago and I'm honestly shooting myself in the foot right now. Both my opinions changing in the last year and myself getting a job has tilted what I wanted. I'm considering about building a gaming/editing PC at this point because my Laptop is slowing down as (far as editing goes). I've been a Mac person all my life and this has been the only point in time where I have regretted it.

I don't know where to turn because i'd rather not waste this Mac and I'd want to keep it used to its potential, yet at the same time I am a sloth when it comes to using my talents. First world problems are a bitch.

I don't see why you need it without the extra power.

Well I have a 500 watt so that shouldn't be a problem right?

I have another problem. I'm trying to host a server for a game called Tremulous. There is this tutorial and I have to download and move files to different places in my computer. Some files I have to move to C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous. Here is the thing, this tutorial was made in 2007, probably for Windows XP. Windows Vista does not have documents and settings. I've read that they changed all the locations and stuff. What I'm asking is how could I find what place this address would convert to in Vista. Here is the tutorial, and the part I'm at is step III part 3 and step IV part 3.

I believe in your
/%username%/appdata/
folder.
Just press start and type "%appdata" to ge there. c:

I did that and there isn't any Tremulous folder in it.

Use the macbook as your portable laptop with entertainment or stuff, and game on your other one.
It's great to have more than one platform.

Ehh, it would still have to be a high quality 500w. The difference between low quality PSUs and high quality PSUs is a lot.

Also, C:\Users\Your name\Appdata\Tremulous.

Thanks for the advice, I tend to lose it over nothing.
