Ah, your laptops bloatware/OEM software is stopping you from installing/updating drivers. Very annoying.
There's a way around it but I can't remember ATM. Will look soon.

That 600W you suggested would be more than enough or just enough? I was thinking 650W or is that overkill?

600w will be fine. It only draws a maximum of 225w:

75w from the PCI-E lane
2 x 75w from the 6-pin connectors.

600w at 80% efficiency: 480w constant.

That leaves about 255w for the rest of your system (most CPUs are 125w, plus other things like hard drives etc). 600w is ample.

What quality is your PSU?
500w should be good up to 2 6-pins. But it'd definitely be on the border, and it'd have to be good quality.
