you only provided one legitimate example. herbalism is a sought after skill. a dye shop is pretty specific, but economic competition is cool. the world doesn't revolve around you and fireboy.
edit: oh, his dye shop has clay? then that argument isn't valid either; clay is in high demand for a base color block. you have no case ayxrion. stop being an asshat.

Every time a server has mcmmo enabled it's always a race to see who has the biggest numbers.

Sure, it's fun to have a friendly competition between players as far as skill level goes, but you guys shouldn't get this involved into raising a number.

I got involved to an certain extent like wanting double drops and diamonds from dirt. but since I can get it now I'm pretty much done farming levels for that.

Personally, my only issue with Zane is that I'm pretty sure he still owes me some books from that stronghold we raided. And because my client connection was stuffty and I lagged a lot, he did have to save my ass (and my gear). It was good fun though. Using the coordinates he provided for the first two strongholds, I used a computer graphing utility to calculate the location of the third stronghold; I was accurate within 100 blocks. Was good fun.
Also I have his nether portal set as my nether home so I like to hop on over to his farm and harvest all his wheat whenever I'm running low.
Anyways I think part of the issue is that Zane comes off as a bit of a braggart at times. The mega-farm is pretty useful (although you are NEVER EVER EVER going to need that much nether wart unless you manage an automatic 24/7 potion farm), and he's not really that bad a guy. To some extent, there's some sort of attitude about "who does what better" which is pretty ridiculous IMO.
Although Zane, you DID brag to me about your Mining ranking in MCMMO before. (I don't give two stuffs about who is what level, I just want my double drops)
So that's that.

I was making this nice long tunnel n junk and now i cant do squat because singleplayer is boreing.

It's mostly that you got 6 stacks of books and I got 2, though I think you were trying to farm emeralds from villagers at the time.
All I really need is the leather though, because sugarcane.
Leather is the other material I keep finding myself most short on.

I thought you took 6 or something from the 18 but ok. Also there is a cool way to get leather by using fishing rods. Level up fishing levels then throw a fish hook on a cow and you get 20 leather and beef.
