Author Topic: Should I play Half Life 2 if I haven't played the first one.  (Read 4830 times)

I'm not liking the controls in Half Life 2 though. It's not as fast paced and they placed too many health kits already trying to make this game easier. Oh and too many explosive barrels.

Other than that it's pretty cool so far. Is the difficulty going to get harder? Because that's what I am hoping for.
It gets a little bit harder. The only part I thought was hard was Nova Prospect and the levels after that.

I thought those parts were the most fun

I just found an unlimited ammo supply cache, now I am slightly disapointed.

This game is right on the border of 90s gameplay to 00s gameplay. The game is not bad but now I see where 90s shooters started to decline.

I picked up a mayonaise jar and these combines stopped shooting at me? This also works with other objects too.

They don't want to shoot their own supplies, obviously

I'd also like to point out Half Life 2 plays incredibly similar to Duke Nukem Forever but then again both games were both mainly developed around 2007-2010.

Compare the airboat level to Duke Nukem Forever's Monster truck level.

Acutally i think it was on 2004, i think we can find a Half life 2 megathread or something from the posts of 2004

Half Life 1 was made in 2004

Wait no nevermind.

I remember playing halflife when I was like 4 or 5 though

Well that would explain why the two games play similarly.

It's so weird how Duke Nukem Forever is as slow in the beginning and as linear as Half-Life 2 but Duke Nukem Forever gets negative reviews for being slow and linear and Half-Life 2 doesn't.

But then again Duke Nukem Forever has been pissing people off with over-hype for over 12 years so I can't blame the reviewers.

I'm playing Half-Life 2 on hard and the revolver is a 1 hit kill weapon on any part of the body, even legs or feet. Is this normal?

In Half-Life 1 it was always a 2 hit kill weapon to soldiers unless shot in the head.

I played HL1 and then HL2, I still didn't know what the forget was going on, they do a bad job at telling the story of the game world.

didn't they patch that?
